I'm really not trying to be a bitch, I mean that sincerely. But I don't think people realize how unhelpful police actually are. Most of the time they're either unable (best case) or just unwilling, i.e. "too busy" (worst case) to do anything about stuff. I had a man put his genitals on me without my knowledge or consent. I reported this to the police when I caught him doing it and they said it was "indecent exposure", the lowest class of misdemeanor. All they could do was give him a talking to and tell him not to contact me again. (He was someone close to me.) I asked if they could tell his wife, and they said they don't contact family or employers. I'm a early 20's female and he's an early 60's male, so...good thing he doesn't work for a school/daycare center? I'm not saying police are lazy, unwilling, etc. in all cases. Often they just can't do anything because laws and such are written very ineffectively.

Indecent exposure is MINIMUM getting put on the registry because it's a sexual misdemeanor. You'll get put on the registry for peeing in public. @@williamkelley1971 I called 911 and talked to the police that I was told to speak with. He didn't really get in trouble mainly because I'm over 18 (I was 20). I talked to a police officer and police detective and that's all they could do for me. They said if I took him to court he MIGHT get AT MOST...I think it was less than four months of probation? I don't remember for sure. However, I was moving out of state in literally two days and with having to come back and forth several times , I just couldn't afford to do that. I would either have had to fly (too expensive) or drive around 10 hours; also taking time off my new job. So unfortunately that just wasn't an option. The officer also told me that most likely nothing would come of it anyway. As for telling the family, yes. I did. I had to call this man's wife of thirty-eight years and tell her what her husband had just done to me. My family was close with him and his wife for longer than I've been alive and having to tell her what happened is the hardest things I've had to do so far.

I always recommend speaking to multiple officers and calling a law office for advice. Most will give it for free. An officer should never tell a victim that "nothing will come of it." Honestly, I'd call and ask to report him because that's not something you EVER tell a victim reporting a crime. I mean, imagine someone coming into the station and saying "Help, I've just been robbed." and the officer responds "Did you see his face? Nah, nothin' will come of it anyway, head on home and forget it." Sorry for insinuating you were lying btw, your story just seemed a bit far-fetched having not heard more. Good on you for telling his family though, seemed it was absolutely the right thing to do in your situation.

Like why did this supposedly insane lady scribble the same phrase into a notebook, carve a dumb vague cliche phrase on his house, "fear the new moon," but in the end turn out to be fully coherent and just tell him what's happening? Why not just do that in the first place? It's like the author ran out of ideas and just wanted to end it. Honestly these Twitter story tellers are missing the point. If you're writing on Twitter and not just a story in a book, it sets it up as something that's actually happening somewhere. Real life is a lot scarier than giant eggs and eyeless women that completely change character at the drop of a dime. Write a story that toes the line, write a realistic story that's so creepy we don't want to believe it. Don't make us go, "oh, giant eggs, I'm done with this crap." ARGs are fun till they're dumb.
