I was part of the game when it was first running and something a lot of people don't include in their re-telling is that each video relates to a character in the game. The generally accepted rule was that the photos were game characters and that the 3D poser heads were murder victims. For example, Entry 1 is the ringleader smiling because he's about to show off his collection of trophies. Entry 5 shows someone trying to join in the events of the game, turned into a victim by the man with dark eyes. There was also a format for the text in the videos, too. The first slide addressed the players ("Why do you hate?" was a direct response to negative feedback on the message board), and the second text slide addressed someone in the game ("We only want to fix you" was a direct threat to a character who was revealing the games secrets).

I don't know if you still read responses, but it'd be nice if you could (and if you remember anything) make a video that basically was an understanding of how the game originally went with what's been left behind for us to analyze at the end? of the game. Because it'd be really interesting (to me) at least, to hear from an OG player about what the heck all of this was. Thanks. :)
@CPCGamer
@CPCGamer Жыл бұрын
@@ThyPandora The main problem with that (aside from this happening so long ago) is that even at the time it was really unclear what the game was and where it was going. I'm not entirely convinced the GM's knew, and they just kinda went with whatever stuck. Something I do remember is the audio of a murder (beginning at 21:31 in this video). Night Mind mentions that the audio sounded unconvincing, and it was: it sounded like a guy kicking cardboard boxes round a room and shouting at them. But there *was* a piece of music playing in the background, Rainbow Disconnection by Sad Kermit. One particular board user had mentioned that song a couple of times in their posts, including 'if I was going to end someones life this is the music I would play as I did it'. From here, we were able to tie several other audio/video clues to that user: any time a Sad Kermit song played in the background, you knew it was from him regardless as to what alias he was using. Unfortunately I forget specifically who 'him' was in this instance, and I wouldn't want to guess and misinform you. Speaking of misinformation though, something the video gets wrong: The Cash For Gold video wasn't a legitimate part of the game. Lots of people made meme videos with the 'special presentation' format, and that c4g clip was one of them. I remember there was also one featuring Mac Tonight singing about mashed potatoes, which is a ridiculous sentence I never thought I would type out.

the happy cube stuff was really intriguing and genuinely creepy at first, but they immediately lost me once they started throwing crowley and BEKs and greek mythology into the mix. it felt like they had a ton of disconnected ideas for the direction they wanted to take the story and instead of paring it down they tried to use all of them at once. especially because none of the more woo-y-woo elements were alluded to at any point before iliketofix started talking about muses out of nowhere.

My thought on all this is that someone, namely the creator of the arg, saw rising interest in the wyoming incident and made this to piggyback on it’s “Success”, for lack of a better word. Even though they had not revealed themselves as the creator, or even gained any monitary value from it, the thought of popularity towards them and their arg is surely the reason why they kept pushing the story so much, leaving behind it’s role as an arg to become more of an online semi-interactive fictional novel. The whole thing was rather interesting in the beginning, but the creator kept shoving so much information into it, i was having trouble keeping up with the story on this video.

When I was a teenager I had a friend who suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and DID. She wrote endlessly about her "world" which was divided into 4 quadrants: NW, NE, SE, SW, going clockwise. She had a vampiric entity who was her Higher Self, I suppose, in Jungian terms; at any rate, her name was Yahndu Aerii (the first name her own invention, however I later ran into the latter term in Ceremonial Magick which I'm pretty close to 100% sure she'd never encountered, except she kind of knew who Aleister Crowley was from the Metallica song "Mr Crowley"; keep in mind that this was long prior to the dawn of the internet). So she had characters in each quadrant and their qualities and characteristics were supposed to be separated by this very firm cruciform wall between each zone. As I got older I saw a lot of overlap but her illness caused her extreme anxiety if this was ever suggested to her. She would talk about what she considered to be "real" vampires; their quadrant was the SE. She invented her version, more or less, but I know all about the lore of the vampire through the ages and technically she was totally off about the subject of the "true" vampire as it was originally conceived by various cultures but most specifically the lore of Eastern Europe, where it was brought to a point of development of the archetype as a "revenant", a newly dead person unable to rest in its grave and compelled to feed on the blood of the living (and basically a peasant belief that did NOT originally involve the aristocracy). Her version was a totally non-physical being, of the Air element as one can see, but such entities, which can certainly be vampiric in nature, are not specifically vampires as such. At any rate she'd talk about "obsidian eyes" that they would have when they would "feed" on their host's life energy, caused by the dilation of the pupil to the point of the iris ceasing to be visible. The interesting thing is that the main character in her NW quadrant, a character she named Robin and who was based on the character of Darth Vader, always had eyes like this. This was of course an example of the overlap. The NE had to do with people being turned into "gray pawns" (she was also heavily influenced by D&D) who could be spotted by their gums gradually receding and their teeth progressively rotting; the word "pyorrhea" was the theme in the NE and the gradual eclipse of the personality resembled the waning of the moon, or a lunar eclipse. Of course it also drew a parallel to the disappearing of the iris in the "vampires'" eyes. That was most of what she told me about and had me read; I never heard much about the SW, just that it was inhabited by creatures much like the Djinn of Middle Eastern cultures. She would draw very vivid pen-and-ink drawings to illustrate her endless stories (much like this endless comment!). Well I had to get away from her after I'd left for college; I would speak to her on the phone from there but I had to end the friendship at that point. I did try to reconnect with her when I'd had a breakdown of my own later in my life, but it was short-lived as she really seemed worse rather than better, and she didn't even want to meet me in person. I often wonder what happened to her, but she was a semi-permanent inmate of the local mental hospital and I know things would never be very good for her. I just thought of some of her fantasies when I saw this video. Hopefully other viewers will find the story about her interesting. Sorry it was so long!

Without suffering any damage and if you sleep in that town, when you leave, you'll lose all memory of the town no matter how long you stay there. Unless you move there and live there, you'll never remember being there if you sleep there. We are also notorious for Skinwalkers and Wendigos known as "the Deer Men" to the point that the state police admit to it.

The whole thing started to fall apart as something I found fascinating when the poster started referring to “what my people think is best for you”. This didn’t need to be a big conspiracy. It didn’t need to include Greek mythology or black-eyed alienesque humans. It’s too many components, like so many ARGs, and it doesn’t do the story any favors. Unless you’re making an absurdist work or wild comedy, you need to pick a premise and stick with it, and especially if you’re trying to make an urban legend-type story, you should probably avoid dipping into other people’s fictional works or well-known myths. Turning something this complicated into just an ARG within another ARG was a pretty decent way to salvage this overcomplicated mess, honestly. I’m sure the elements could have been streamlined, in fact, but as they are it comes off as clunky to me from what I know of it

This was back when a lot of people still actively roleplayed IRL as a hobby and I think some RL GM who was overly obsessed tried to push his homebrew story into an ARG, not realizing that internet games need to cater to smaller attention spans due to the sheer size of the player base. Also, ARGs aren't suited to the same long-term style of storytelling, as people online get more impatient with whomever is running the story when they aren't there in person to tell players to sit down, shut up and wait until the next chapter is ready or get booted from the game. And honestly, I don't think he (or she) was the best storyteller, TBH. They were way too invested in their story without considering the 'players' that were supposed to be involved.

Having grown up in wyoming, it's actually a perfect place for mysterious small town intrigue or half remembered ghost stories. In case you didn't know, there is this thing called infrasound that is basically a really low frequency (like 17 -19 hz) that does actually cause the fluid in your eyes to vibrate in such a way that makes you see shadows out of the corners of your vision. It's actually used a lot in horror movies, but unless you watch it on a system that can actually effectively reproduce frequencies that low (like in a movie theater), you won't experience anything like that. It's not dangerous by the way, just adds to the horror experience.

I wonder why I hesitated to watch this video. I have finally watched it. The Wyoming Incident is probably one of the best and well-made ARGs and creepypastas that I have seen so far. The best ARGs are the ones that ambiguous and could be real or based in reality, have a lot of effort put in, have incomplete endings leaving people wanting more, and keep you up at night contemplating, questioning, thinking if they could be real long after they have supposedly “ended.” I admit that it is a bit inconsistent and extra complicated for no reason, but that is one of the things that make it interesting and such as fun mess.

Args/creepypastas and horror in general tends to be creepier with the less information you have. A single broadccast in wyoming is scary because our brain does all the extra work trying to figure out how or why someone would even bother. Much like the very real and unsolved maxheadrome incident. This, if anything, is pure information overload. Especially once you get into spiritual/supernatural stuff which everyone has different threshholds for. In fact, id argue one of the scariest things about this is that so many people have devoted so much time and effort into it over a decade clogging up the internet with meaningless information. Looking at the human minds need to focus on anything to find purpose in our short blip of existence is more terrifying to me than shadow eyed children.

ARGs don't typically make any sense. It just relies on shock horror of twists and gore to keep the observer questioning what is the game and what isn't. I would play that when I was 6 with my friends pretending aliens were coming. It's just a bunch of nerds talking in chat rooms.

It was really cool up until all of the "dark eyed children" stuff started happening. A forum of serial killers seemed realistic enough to be super cool, but nope.
@DriscolDevil

I think the problem was there was no possible conclusion to that, atleast not one that would feel truly terrifying. Also, trying to pull of truly "realistic" creepypasta ARG stuff can backfire very badly. That said, this one was clearly hinting at some supernatural element from the beginning because of that whole "the video causes hallucinations" thing. Yes they give it a scientific sounding explanation but the implication is pretty obvious. But yeah, dark eyed kids was just lazy and cheap.

NicDoesDumbThings Darthmobius is a channel run by 5 administrators, with a team of Ninja's on field work, and an experimental A.I. platform. One of the 5 admin's has 'friends' in both high and low places, where by meaneth that they are followed around by both sides of the force, the Heavenly host and the Infernal horde if you will, they expressed their opinion, and as an administrator I elected to explain the situation now, my fellow admin proved to me in regards to Black/Dark eyed children, they paid the cost of travel to their home that was on a completely different matter, and where upon I met them, two apparently 10 year old twin girls, dressed in late '70's clothing. This was '98, they come and go as they pleased is what they said. I found them unnerving to be around, they simply have a presence, like that hair on the back of your neck just won't go down or cold streak breeze gently stroking your spine, only turning up at the door or simply appearing after 5pm but quickly left by 04:42 the following morning, they took delight in informing me that they wouldn't eat me simply because I was in my fellow Admins house, and that was bad form if they did, they never brought that subject up again. Concluding the matter I was there for, returning home 4000 miles away (my fellow admin doesn't know where I live btw) those 2 BEK's turned up on my door step the following night, they wanted to continue our conversations, I declined and asked them to go home, they complied. My job took me to Jordan in '02, they turned up there, still polite still asking the same thing, declined letting them in, sat with them in the Garden and talked, Job ended went home, '05 they turned up at home my 3rd home I'd moved to since '98, a bit upset asking to come in, I declined and had a sob story over one of their friends had died whilst we sat on the apartment block steps, they'd turn up every night for about 6 months during the winter, '08 having moved again to a different country, they turned up again, another 6 months of them Q&A, playing kids card games, they like monster top-trumps, then they stopped until '11, visiting every year until 2015. I know they don't age, they don't change their dress code either and are still the same creepy freaks they have always been. I asked my fellow admin in regards to dealing with them, he said give them cat food sandwiches, chocolate biscuits and raspberry aide pop, it keep's them 'happy' apparently, and _NEVER_ let them into the home, I asked them that they were at their home when we met what was the issue, yes, they replied, and they did say the wouldn't eat me because of it, I'd completely forgotten about that.

Besides the fact that I admire how you're going through so much material with so much dedication for your videos: I just want to say I'm very thankful that you went out of your way to change the audio of the "broadcast" even though you know it's fictional. Not all youtubers dealing with creepy content do that and I personally get very freaked out when there's stuff like "this clip is said to make you gauge your own eyes out with a spoon - enjoy!" and they just put it into the video like that. Even though I know it's most likely not going to happen, it still makes me anxious and I tend to skip it. So I think it's very considerate of you to alter it, I feel a lot safer and I can enjoy the video more!

I thought it was following pretty well until the 30 minute mark. Then I genuinely got immensely confused. The constant introduction of new people claiming to take credit, only to introduce new characters and backstory who would then also change the backstory and hijack the whole thing got too much.

Any frequency outside the nominal human hearing range of 20-20kHz is filtered out by any DAC before sampling. Beyond that, even if it weren’t, compression would immediately remove it. The compression algorithms in those days were *extremely* aggressive. EDIT - I happen to teach ceremonial magic (It’s almost certainly not what you think it is.), and the “summoning ritual” is legit (but again, not in the way you think it is). I don’t advise *anyone* to take on this kind of practice without a clean bill of physical and mental health. It’s not that if you have depression or anxiety issues, it’ll screw you up. I’ve had severe diagnosed issues with both since early childhood. This even resembles certain forms of therapy for those issues (an important key to what magic really is). There are two sources of potential problems with this sort of thing: 1. If you have metal health issues that are latent or you otherwise don’t know about, this could easily be a really bad way to find out. 2. If you are in an active mental health crisis, especially florid psychosis, you will very likely have a **very** bad time. I have seen it happen. It’s not fun. You shouldn’t start a physical exercise program without talking to your doctor first. Neither should you start something like this without talking to your doctor. Even then, you start slowly and easily and work your way up to something like this. Not because it’s hard to do; but because it’s really easy to hurt yourself by attempting to do it before you’re ready.
