Exploring The Grand Mesa | Tiny Creek Tenkara Dry Fly Fishing

Mid July, 2024. I had a morning on the Grand Mesa in Colorado to explore couple of creeks that I had marked on the map. The first one looked great on the map, but ended up being a bust, at least the section I fished. However, the area was very pretty. After some 4-wheeling and hiking around I found a stretch of another one that was super tiny, really pretty, and super fun to fish.

You did a great job fishing that tight, woolly creek. Not a lot of room for hook sets. Glad it paid off for you!

Thanks! I haven’t fished there extensively, but there are tons of lakes to choose from. I’m still trying to figure out the creeks:)

What a great outing - love little creeks like that! But “rod travel” can be an issue. Low hanging branches can really mess up a hook set. Thank for sharing this!
