Why is it when certain people are faced with financial pressure, they set out to kill their entire family and most times themselves? Such as John List, who murdered his whole family under his roof but did not kill himself. All he had to do was sell some of the assets within his home & then downsize into something smaller for him and his family. Why do they only see murder/suicide as the only way out?
@jasondownsnet
@jasondownsnet 8 жыл бұрын
I think that they feel that they are under that financial pressure due to all the people they support, the lifestyle they provide for others, and the people who rely on them, eventually they get resentful and turn on them.

Also it's usually so much debt that even doing what you said wouldn't even be close to enough money to settle. Think taxes etc.

I think they see themselves as a failure and are embarrassed to tell their family the truth. They get suicidal, and while in that mindset believe that since they won't be there to take care of their family, the best thing they can do is keep them "safe" by killing them. Or, sometimes I think the devil just takes them over.

JellyBean I am about as far away from beeing a religious person as you can ever be, but I think the phenomenon you are referring to, in a way, is one of the main reasons behind why the inventors of Christianity labeled ”pride” as one of the so called ”seven deadly sins”. It seems to me like pride, more often then not, has a tendency to make us humans do all kinds of stupid and evil shit to each other...

Los Feliz has a history of terrible events/hauntings. The Labianca's were murdered by the Manson family in that area. Also, the house where Cary Grant & Randoplh Scott lived in, is notoriously haunted! Is also somewhere in Los Feliz, creepy! Great video:)

My buddy and I went to the house at midnight and watched the Exorcist on a lap top to scare the hell out of ourselves. It worked. There are absolutely no street lights on that street and it's pitch black. It's a creepy ass house, but there's more to it. The house behind and above it also had a similar murder happen a decade or two before. Shits crazy.

No, it’s not the same house. The Manson murders were about a mile away near Griffith Park Blvd., three blocks from my place. I walk my dog by it often. Katy Perry just bought the massive property right next door to it. I wonder if she knows it’s history. I believe some guy from the Ghost Hunters TV show just bought the actual house the LaBianca’s spent their horrific final night in. There is a great Joe Rogan podcast with a guy who wrote a book about the Manson murders. He thinks the Los Feliz murder pinned on the Manson murders could have been a hit due to the husbands gambling debts and their grocery store that they owned was in financial trouble.

Same. My condominium, at one point during period of 2 years there were 2 suicides by jumping from the condo and I couldn't care less though some families moved out from the condo. I worked night shift so I had to go back home during 2-3 am every morning and I never saw a thing. I went to dump the trash bags at the wee hour and no ghost encounter. Nothing. No strange things happened to me either. I still believe humans are the scariest beings. Meanest, most evil. Not ghosts.

Strange and ironic that the couple who purchased the property (and subsequently their son) went to such great lengths to ensure that the house remained as it was the night of the murder/suicide for decades, only to have it all cleaned-up and thrown-out by the real estate company in order to be put back on the market. Obviously, no prospective buyer would be interested in purchasing a home filled with dusty, 1950's-era detritus, but it is still sort of sad. Oh, well. One of the great urban legends of the area, now a thing of the past.

The creepy thing is if you go in the front the far left window you can look into I think a library/den you can see there Christmas tree still set up since the 50's and there's some water damage and peeling wall paper. Ya it's super creepy. You used to be able to just go around the side into the backyard and look into the house. It looks like they put up plywood from this video. We also went to the Wonderland house the same day as well as the George Hodel Black Dalia Franklin house. A nice Hollywood murder tour. You can drive to all 3 within an hour...

A terrific house but that I agree that the staircase/window arrangement is odd. There's a lack of privacy; someone just walking up or down the stairs in their own home could be seen almost a block away. Too the stairway cutting across the window detracts from the beauty of the house. Also I'm curious about why someone would buy such a large house in a residential neighborhood and use it for storage. I know of houses being used for storage or, in rural areas. as barns but not a house that big. Something odd about the situation in Los Feliz and that it was/is used that way for so long. The property taxes alone must be sky-high then there's empty house insurance and probably an electric bill and maybe a water bill also.

tyailee hawkins do you mean the one in San Diego? That would be pretty cool if there was another Whaley house that was haunted. I’ve been to the one in SD many times and I haven’t seen anything. I brought a skeptical friend once though, and he thought he was going to be funny and he was taunting the ghosts. He was saying, “Oh Mrs Whaley, come out and get me!” We separated and I went into another room. I heard a bang, and when I turned around he was on the floor and scurrying like a little animal trying to crawl away from something. He ran out of the house and waited for me. When I came out, he said he saw Mrs Whaley, and we never spoke of it again.

Los Feliz is typically pronounced Los FEE - liss, not Los Feh-LEASE And here are some cleaned-up interior photos from the current real estate listing www.bhhscalifornia.com/listing-detail/2475-glendower-place-los-angeles-ca-90027_1843846

+Gracie Frick Los FEE Liss may be the more common pronunciation, but it's a Spanish word with Mexican origins. The Los FEE Lis pronuncication dates from when LA was a 90% White city, when clueless White people pronounced the name of the city Los ANGLE-iss, instead of Loss ANjell-is. It really should be Los Feh-LEASE. And it really should be Los AN-hell-lace.

+The Movie Dealers true - just speaking from experience. I lived in Los Feliz for 10 years... never heard anyone pronounce it with the spanish pronunciation.

+The Movie Dealers yeah, nobody cares about that or bitterness towards white people. It's Los FEEliz now. That's like calling Hispanics who don't speak English clueless because they call Docters On Duty "Dr.San Duty" or Denny's "Dennis", which they very much do, so don't even try and deny that shit. It's not that people are clueless. It's that people are unfamiliar; huge fucking difference. People have lives to live, and mouths to feed; they can't worry about subtle linguistic differences when they got bigger fish to fry. Get off her high fucking horse.

Fehl-EESE Nah-VEE-dahd, Feliz Navidad..... In CA they pronounce rodeo as roh-DAY-oh, so I wouldn't put much stock in how Californians pronounce things. I've never heard anyone say they were a bull rider in the roh-DAY-oh. I'll go with Jose Feliciano being right on the pronunciation of feliz.

If I owned the house. I would replace the window in front/along side the staircase with a stained glass image of the Virgin Mary looking down towards the front door as if she was blessing any one entering the house.

I love that plan! It would certainly rid the house of ghosts, cover the ugly staircase, and, well... stain glass is just awesome to begin with. Win. Win. Win! Thanks for watching!
