I work at Burlington and we have a whole department dedicated to store cleanliness. A whole team of people that work everyday cleaning the store. And it still looks like this. ITS THE CUSTOMERS!!! They just trash everything. I think it’s a thing with “treasure hunt” stores. Like people see one mess and feel comfortable making more messes. Which turns the whole store into a mess. A whole isle will be freshly cleaned and then completely wrecked again by the next day.

I can certainly see the difference of how customers act here, as opposed to somewhere where I'd worked like Walmart. Yeah, I'd find meat in the housewares section and half eaten food on the shelves, but NEVER as bad as this Edit after seeing some of the aisles I got flashbacks to when I was assigned to fix the toy aisle. If you want one of the worst jobs at walmart, ask for the toy section. It is absolute hell

with regards to the perfume stuff, these perfumes are continually made. The Paris Hilton stuff isn't 20 years old, but the original product was launched that long ago. Even if the perfume is a couple years old, it should presumably still be fine because perfumes are mostly made of alcohol and as long as they are not exposed to sunlight they won't go bad

My Burlington stores are always super messy and chaotic too. However, we are getting new ones in the area that have taken the place of Bed Bath Beyond stores. Also, you CAN ask for a lower price at TJ Maxx/Homegoods if there is a chip/crack/etc and usually get a couple extra dollars off. The more you know!

I used to work at Burlington. some stories: people would use their young children and set them on stolen merchandise and then walk out with it. one of the managers got shot through the hand by someone who was robbing the store. one time my elderly land lady came in and bought like 20 pairs of frilly underwear and I had to ring her up. awkward! it is a chaotic place but sometimes you can find a deal.

The carts at my local Burlington have an automatic braking system that prevents you from removing the carts from the store. I suppose so that employees don’t get stuck retrieving them from the parking lot. Not realizing this, I attempted to take my purchases to my car, the brakes locked up, and I got the cart handle jammed into my ribs.
