Thank you so much for these useful clarifications. I read Erik's first book before the GPT madness and I am so glad I did. You can see it on Erik's face how much of an effort he makes sometimes to respond to a discourse on AI that has become mainstream now, but that rests on so much confusion...So many distinctions needed. I am just sorry we did not hear more of Erik in these past months of AI debate, I would have wanted him to be a leading voice on the topic before so much stupidity had already made it to mainstream discourse in US and worldwide.

Any ChatGPT, Gemini, etc are just sort of upgraded dictionaries and encyclopedias. They are going to close to giving answers on questions raised by human using natural language. In some ways they could be better even very much than people answering. They could be powerful than any single human. However, they will never surpass human in general all.

Hmm is the best robot really like a 3 year old? What about boston dynamic/spot etc they seem to be moving great

Their robots are prone to falling and have trouble getting back up.
