Thank you Jodie. I am so happy the Williams went for what it did. I know the Ferrari is wonderful but for me, emotionally the Williams is even more so simply for the iconic Senna moment. Motorsport is all about passion and surely that moment of camaraderie and true sportsmanship is the epitome of the passion of the sport.

Same here. I was in Barcelona at Turn 4 with my dad cheering for Nigel to win (i might still have the union jack flag we bought that weekend) and then after passing Senna twice, he went for it in the inside of Berger for the lead in front of our own eyes!!!! That was so incredible! He won! That was just Happiness! We missed 92 due to money, and 95 sucked to be honest. But we went to Silverstone to see him race one last time with the GP Masters in 2006. I missed a picture with him, but that was such a brilliant event. It's not easy being his fan in Barcelona though.

Excellent! I so admire the way Sotheby's auctions are conducted, low key, at an easy pace - so unlike most auction houses in USA, where the auctioneer sounds like a square dance caller. Congratulations to Mr. Mansell on a successful sale; it must have been an emotianal moment to part with icons from his career. Another wonderful show, and twenty minutes of my time well spent, thanks for sharing. And my I say, you look lovely in the dress you were wearing during the interviews.

Just goes to show how iconic the Williams is. Was not expecting it to be sold for more than the Ferrari taking into account it doesn't have the original engine but so glad it did as that FW14 was the first one I ever saw on television and so close to winning the title in 1991. Great to see Nigel also & loved that Ferrari 340MM, very pretty car indeed. Another awesome video Jodie from you & the KIASS team, many thanks for showing it to us & can't wait to see more x

Brilliant as ever Jodi! Hope we get to work together sometime. Anywho, regarding F1 Ferrari's, here's a thing you may like. I live in Dubai and many years back during some film thing (with MTV I think) I was introduced to a Ferrari collector and went to his villa on the Palm. Yes, lots of Ferrari's but of particular interest was his "coffee table" which was a F1 Ferrari with a glass top on it sitting in the middle of his living room and yes, being used as a coffee table. I'm sure it was genuine given the obvious amount of spondulies this chap had. The other interesting thing is I was led to believe this was a Mansell car...? Haven't heard of the guy for years now, it's quite possible he's gone elsewhere. Bit bizarre though, but genuinely true, believe me in Dubai there are things you just can't make up!

@Dj Burp That Ferrari pic sounds amazing Dj....big shout to your children for giving that to you as a gift. The Mansell FW14 is the one with active suspension that was banned the next year by the FIA. It basically kept the car dead level through corners...no roll whatsoever...so could corner much faster than the other cars. It was basically unbeatable as long as it worked. Mansell set the record of 9 wins in one season in it.

My ex-wife and I had a penchant for buying small pieces of art by local artists wherever we went on holiday. You know the Type of thing, you’ll be in a café in Dartmouth or wherever and have maybe they have a nice painting of the harbour on the wall that A local artist painted and it would cost maybe 50 or 60 quid so we would buy these types of things. Anyway we were in Monte Carlo and she saw in one of the little arcades a nice little painting in the window and she asked me to go and enquire as to its cost. I said darling we can’t afford it. She said maybe we can maybe it’s not too expensive go and ask. I said no we can’t afford it do you know why? she said no why? I said because if you look in the corner of the signature, it’s an original Renoir and this little window is actually for Sotheby’s of Monaco. True story. That’s Monaco for you. Don’t know if it’s still there, but right next to the café de Paris in Casino Square they used to be a Chopard outlet. I enquired as to a nice pink diamond pendant necklace and a pair of matching pink diamond earrings for my six-year-old daughter at the time. 300 grand. I would’ve bought it but they wouldn’t let me use my nectar card to collect the points.

I had a feeling that the Williams would sell for more than the pre-auction estimate; bidding was pretty intense for it. The 1953 Ferrari 340 MM did not sell. Here's a challenge for Jodie, not that she would ever embark on the research side of things. Imagine if the reaction she Jodie was to an in-depth documentary on all dark political behind the scenes of Formula One. Now that is something worth watching regardless how much time and research required to make it a good KZbin or Netflix watch. Notice that the Lamborghini Miura is red, along with many early Lambos including the Countach. But then at a certain point, Lamborghini realized that red is the symbolic color of Ferrari. Thus you will not see any red Lambos after a certain date, like in the last 30 or 40 years that I can see, up to the present. No red anywhere.
