Yeah. This almost feels like a jab at folks like us who preferred the old style of writing; the authors are saying, it would seem to me thus far at least, that the changes to the scp universe were necessary. Plus this conveniently allows for scps to be changed or destroyed without much narrative issue.
@thatsscarybruh3 жыл бұрын
@@HandOfThemis I completely agree. As I said before, stuff like this is cool and all but it feels like an entirely different universe. As creative as the stories are, they feel like they're missing the very essence of what made the SCP universe so intriguing to begin with. I can read any science fiction or fantasy novel and get the same experience as this new universe but man, those earlier entries, they were something special.

@@thatsscarybruh The ruthlessness of The Foundation is one of the many things that was discarded sadly. It made the entire universe much more interesting and gritty. Not my cup of tea very often.
@LAN2D3 жыл бұрын
The reason there are less old school SCPs nowadays is because people don't enjoy writing them as much anymore. There are only so many murder monsters or creepy objects you can write before it gets boring, and the modern authorbase prefers writing stories with characters that have depth, and narratives that actually mean something. I get wanting the old style of SCP back, but saying it's 'just not SCP' is kinda wrong. The stories on the wiki are distinctly unique, even these longer ones.

Well, if you listen to any mainstream media source anywhere then that's going to be your take, since their goal is to appeal to the largest audience. Literature has been thriving all this time in actual writing communities and places that cater to such dynamics, like Creators that use Patreon or Subreddits/Discords/Forums. @grigorikarpin3 жыл бұрын
It’s very long, which seems likely to have hurt us in the competition... but we’re very happy with the strong support the article has received
@OutbackCatgirl4 ай бұрын
I've seen essentially this exact comment on every other 6000 competition entry I've watched so far. In different ways, all of them are great, though different folk prefer different styles of writing, length, and content, so the favourite of one will be disliked by another. I love that all these varying visions are accessible to us still.

@xfom40085 ай бұрын
Because it was already done 6500 already terminated 6500 anomalies and nerfed countless more. Anomalies are still dangerous, but living with them is now a possibility and the only possibility that isn't genocide. The world threatening stuff is gone, some stuff that was difficult to contain or impossible to destroy became easy to neutralize or contain or been terminated by 6500, etc. That's the plot of 6500 and no return timeline - continuing the foundation as it was would just be unnecessary cruelty/genocide.

7:48 As a member of the serpent's hand, the rest of this speech nearly exactly displays my views on the foundation and the GoC. I respect that they are helping to stop 6500, but they could stand to be a little less hypocritical about it. I point to the time they sealed a dragon away untill it lost almost all its power and killed it for trying to fly for the first time in over 100 years, and potentially the last time it could have been able to take off had it lived. We see you jailors as those that would seal away and depower anything you don't understand, that would kill or make non-anomalous the source of all magic if you could find it, just so you wouldn't have to "contain thaumaturgic scp's".
@atomicash24753 жыл бұрын
The dragon didn't loose it's power, it just couldn't deal with the advance ment of science. In its time the sun and stars were these mystical powers, now we know their flaming balls of gas and it couldn't cope with the loss of wonder.
@monsterno.definablenever.34843 жыл бұрын

What you are experiencing is pataphysical derangement. If symptoms persist read a Family Circus cartoon and the ingredients list on a Gogurt Watermelon Lime flavor package. DO NOT read a Mountain Berry Burst package, as this might exacerbate symptoms or open a cognito portal into the Super Context.

I understand why some might enjoy this SCP as it broadly follows the steps of a fantasy narrative. That said, I don't like it myself. It is like someone asked, "how can we make a typical hero's journey story using nothing but SCPs?" Yeah, it is a lot of effort, but it is completely unoriginal. It is recycled takes on other, better SCPs, thrown together for no other purpose than to be as "meta" as possible.
