Great explore and what a staircase, but it's appaling that there are patient records, some one should be in trouble

I had a scan for my first baby at Royal Naval Hospital Haslar whilst I was in the WRNS. I remember the hospital well, having visited friends who were there for operations and health care. The equipment and healthcare provided is now split between the NHS and the Defence Medical Services but in those days, it was just the DMS. Good explore, thank you ❤

Amazingly clean looking given how long it's been abandoned and the building and demolishion going around it. I remember the first time I saw my mother in hospital. I'd no idea which area she was in but I spotted a pair of feet on a bed, everything else of her was hidden except for Winnie the Pooh socks 😂 My dad had aged 30 years in a few days the last time I saw him in hospital. I had to be in full PPE, he didn't recognise me, but I didn't recognise him until the nurse said. I'm the last of my family now. Hospitals are places of terror, relief, sadness and sorrow but also joy. Those walls see it all and tell nothing. Only the ghosts and in this case, the private personal patient records in the basement left to tell their story 😕❤️ What a wonderful explore ❤

Loved this explore it was interesting to hear the comparison to your previous visits. It's remarkably in good shape but has an apocalyptic vibe. You'd think the equipment could have been salvaged and leaving patient info is bad. Beautiful arch windows at the end. I enjoy your strange images you have captured on film in your videos they are a true mystery. Take care 😊

Wow! this is a fabulous video,I remember watching your other ones Colin and they were great,but to see it now is quite a shock in some ways and weirdly sad. But it is really good the place is going to be used and not just demolished!!.I had forgotten the spooky bit until you started talking about it. Thank you for revisiting the old hospital and giving us all another look. Looking forward already to next weeks. Take care.😃

You would think they would at least have salvaged some of the useable equipment. What a waste. These patients records should never have been left there. These are meant to be confidential and someone should have been answerable for that. Incredible! A great explore though.

This was a fantastic hospital in it's time. Such a shame it had to be closed as I had my knee surgery there and staff were great. The only hospital I haven't minded being a patient in. The food was great too. The after care was satisfactory and I'm sorry ro have seen it let go into this state. Nothing lasts forever, it seems. 😮❤

There are no Naval hospitals left at all now so if the equipment was not needed by any NHS hospitals, they had no one to pass it on to and as been said before, technology advances so quickly that the equipment was probably deemed too old and outdated.
@cruizzer77 Жыл бұрын
There must once have been a lot more equipment and I guess most of what was reusable was sold. The stuff left was most likely so dated already that it didn't make sense to move it elsewhere. Simple stuff like i.e. beds can easily be sold or given to less privileged countries when it is replaced here but with complicated equipment it will often not be that simple I guess. As soon as it takes highly trained people to maintain it, and these people are not available elsewhere, the equipment will be of no use at all.

In my job, before retiring, I went all over London and the home counties, and seeing this abandoned building with power still on is not new to me. There were and are still thousands of "derelict" or abandoned buildings where the power is still on. The electricity supply companies simply don't care as the cost is broadly added to our bills, like shoplifting, in the end it is us the general public who pay more to cover the losses! But of course the energy companies still boast millions if not billions of pounds profits every year!

Great video, cheers for posting. I’ve been there myself since it closed as I used to work for the electric company and I was on site to maintain the substations around the site (you can see one of them in front of the yellow excavator, the building with yellow signs on the doors! That one I think was called Haslar Laundry substation!) everything at the time was still live from the grid (11KV) but the site was derelict and just starting to be redeveloped. I was chatting to the security guy on the gate house and he was saying they are going to clear and demolish most of the buildings or extensions that were added in the 70’s and 80’s when the hospital was modernised and return all the remaining buildings to how the place looked in the 1900’s, but as a housing development instead. The big strip down the middle you said had been demolished was originally a big garden and walkway up to the doors on the original building but they added another wing over it in the 70’s & 80’s refurb & update. Back when I was there, there was a big tin shed type building in the front corner of the site which had another substation inside it, this apparently was the hospital incinerator! I think that building has gone now though? There was a room inside it that was filled waist heigh with tons of shredded electrical cable and wiring from the start of demolition and the recycling of the old materials. I’m surprised (maybe I shouldn’t be!) some of the medical equipment is left rotting away in there though. How wasteful! That stuff would have cost a fortune and would have been kept very well maintained in its life to just be left like that. They could have even sent it to other countries that need stuff like that. It’s good to see the place being saved though instead of left to deteriorate or the whole site cleared to build a boring characterless modern housing estate. At least this will keep the old buildings in use.

Yes, the Goiânia accident in South America 1987. Metal theives stole the equipment, didnt know what it was broke it open and saw blue glowing crystals. They thought it was some supernatural force. One of the scrappers daughters died after applying it to herself so she could get Magical Powers. She was buried in a special coffin to avoid futher contamination. In total 4 people died and 249 people treated for contamination. While 112,000 were tested for exposure to it.

The person who said about the innit she is short of money why do people like you talk crap it's nothing to do with that the reason the NHS is struggling is because it's too many managers and the money that the NHS gets is not managed properly it's a simple as that we need to get back to basics we need to start employing more matrons obviously we have to train them up get rid of most of the managers I think you'll find that if that was done in the NHS be in a much better financial health and then it is now how comes places like Sweden and Norway and other places that Australia can manage the National Health Service absolutely fine in fact they can actually pay their money sorry to pay the staff about twice the amount or three times amount that we're paying them I know they're not private is because it's mismanagement with the money they get
@john0597 Жыл бұрын
I just want to make a comment about if it's any of radioactive equipment near it's totally out of order who's ever responsible should be fined heavily because when hospital shuts down they should be the first thing you should do be doing is taking away and think night that and disposing of it properly
@john0597 Жыл бұрын
Well the thing is I want to say it's totally disgusting absolutely out of order that the hospital lazy lazy NHS hospital didn't send a company in to get them paperwork and that should be restored somewhere else ok or on the computer or it should be burnt they should not be leaving any sort of human parts anywhere in the building absolutely disgusting

It doesn't surprise me thoe about the electricity being still on . The armed services are rubbish when it comes to closing accounts- contracts etc. And the medical records again not surprised....
