The Rover 105 with the roof chop looks like they were making a replica of the Rover Turbine Car (Reg JET 1). Original is in the Science Museum.

It's actually very sad ....who ever amassed this collection was a very lonely person but had a inexhaustable amount of money and thought it could bring them happiness .......😢 by the way , that first XK150 was a replica .

Proves that you cant take it with you! Lookes like they enjoyed themselves whilst they could!
@rossmacintosh56526 сағат бұрын
You can imagine they were lonely but you really don't know. It seems likely that the collector died years ago & their heirs just abandoned the place. When the collector was alive, it might have been a neat & tidy place, possibly even a hub of activity. Whoever he was he clearly had a passion for cars & trucks. The sad part is how it's been abandoned. It was asked in the video what might happen to the vehicles. Sadly the answer seems obvious - they will continue to be ignored by whoever legally owns the collection & allowed to rust to dust.

Well Colin, hats off to you on the wierdest collection I've seen. The Cobra replica is actually a replica of a famous car. COB 1 is the legendry monster built and I think still owned by Rod Leach, who is one of the world's leading experts on AC Cobras. His business "Rod Leach's Nostalgia" was trading up until just before Covid. He's an old man now and I am aware of some legal trouble, but I don't know any more.

Cob 1 says it’s a Cobra , 7000cc on dvla 1974 , off road since 1995
@trevorloveday1146 сағат бұрын
Rod Leach's COB 1 was widened - not a standard Cobra body. It was also twin-turbocharged, if I remember correctly. I saw it outside Rod's house as I was driving past and went back and talked to him about it. The COB 1 in this video is not that car.

The ford galaxy or seat or vw convert to the classic Citroen is one of the strangest convert I have ever seen, I doubt it would be completed but it must be a true one of a kind. Love the cobra. That’s a classic I would love to own, but I’d happily drive the e34 5 series, had a lot of those in the past, my worst had the new type front which wasn’t my favourite but I would still happily drive one today. Apart from the road costs. This whole site must be the strangest cut a shut garages that got the concept of cut n shut idea very wrong
@stuartcutmore58487 сағат бұрын
COB 1 reg always used to belong to Rod Leach, famous Cobra man - his company was Rod Leach’s Nostalgia and he used to advertise it C&SC - he sold all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff … this must be something to do with him.

My best guess, a rich eccentric with rather strange ideas on how to mod cars. Had a kid who did karting and maybe did a bit of racing themself. Sadly it looks like the usual story of someone passing on and having no one interested in saving the cars :(

Do you ever make enquiries into these properties ?? If there are no relatives , then what are they returned to the government ?? can they be bought for land value ?? Could you imagine some government person going to the trouble you did ?? With this many cars , You could go a joint venture into it and all make a serious profit. Not to mention saving some of these classic cars.
