I was picking up a pre-order from Gamestop late one day and another customer brought up the conversation of cryptids (they never used the word, but they were talking about these unscientifically-proven beasties). At one point, they mention fairies as being real, gives a description, and then shows a photo on their phone...the photo did _not_ match their verbal description.

The woman who allegedly gave birth to the Jersey Devil was Mother Leeds. According to the story, when it was time to give birth to her 13th child, under the pain of labor, she cried out "Let it be a devil!". And the baby was initially born as a normal human baby, but then it transformed into a monster right in front of them.

ok. Jersey native here. 1909. it was MUCH more than 30 sightings, but that number is from like... one town, specifically. we're talking like over 100 sightings in central Jersey OVER THE COURSE OF A WEEK OR TWO. Including official police reports of a whole ass squad of officers firing on the thing, among others. so not even just random people out in the woods. schools were closed in a few towns. local law enforcement and military were just keeping a presence on public transport (i wanna say that was in Newark, specifically) to help keep a level of calm, and to encourage people to keep going about their days. was absolutely nuts.

My old mom (she's 70) was perfectly ok with getting in the water at the beach till she saw Jaws when she was young way back in the stone age. I'm much more afraid of jellyfish than anything else after some got me really bad on my legs and feet. My skin sucks since I'm a... A ginger, plus I've A skin disease, so the stings had a much worse effect on me. I legit thought something bit my feet off & that I was running back to the beach on stumps.

Cows are a**holes though so even if there wasn’t more close human interaction with cows than sharks it would still make sense. Also a little note that is only an estimate based on official reported shark kills, meaning it’s more than likely higher since they can’t tell when a shark shallows a person unless it’s by chance like that missing Argentina man Deigo something I think it was like this year or last year. Or the body they found in a tiger shark in I think ‘95 again caught by chance and found the body which to my knowledge is still unidentified. In conclusion don’t screw with animals or think they won’t because they can and will.

that's weird. i was reading about Canadian mythical/cryptid creatures last night. there are a lot of lake creatures and i guess that makes sense considering all the lakes. also i had a pet moth at one point. it was green and i was like 10ish. it was massive. i guess it flew into a camp fire and lost half a wing so i fed it and kept it. it liked to stay on my shoulder and when i took it off it would flap trying to get back to me. too bad they dont live long

I think my man here double-dipped. "The Beast of Bray Road" always comes up when I look up Michigan Dogman.
@garystorey6472Ай бұрын
Yeah, but they are not the same. The Beast of Bray Road is from Wisconsin. Specifically, Bray Road is right outside of Elkhorn Wisconsin. Technically, if anything, he double dipped in a sense of using 2 Cryptids from Wisconsin. The other is the Hodag, which is from Rhinelander Wisconsin.
@garystorey6472Ай бұрын
However, the reason that the Michigan Dog man is sometimes linked with the Beast of Bray road comes down to the fact that one of the leading Cyrptozologist/Paranormal hunter that wrote the book about the Michigan Dog man, Has written alot of Books main one being on the Wendigo, but others about paranormal places around the midwest. One of those books being the Wisconsin Road Guide to Haunted Locations and the Wisconsin Road Guide to Mysterious Creatures.

@ReticentSparrow I hope you do they are good reads. Unlike a lot of other writes, Chad Lewis also talks to locals, and he conducts actual, like investigations about the subject he is writing about. In my opinion, he is better than some other Cryptozological writers who just dont take the time to learn about the story of the subjects they are writing about.

As an Okie, when I discovered Animal Planet’s Lost Tapes (*during my middle/high school days of extensive research on the creature I fear more than snakes, my own mother, God Himself, and the Devil himself, the Chupacabra 🔥😱🔥*) and discovered the likes of the horse-sized Oklahoma Octopus, I was understandably shook. As far as I know, the sightings/human disappearances w/ 0 bodies found have been in Lakes Thunderbird, Tenkiller, and Oolagah (*≈155mi SW, ≈135mi SW, and ≈35mi SE of Bartlesville*). ….. Yeah, now you see why I *ACTIVELY AVOID* those 3 lakes. The Jersey Devil is why I wanna avoid the Pine Barrens of New Jersey and my 2nd most feared creature. It went from normal baby of the Leeds family to horse/dragon demon w/ an ungodly shriek that I can only describe as the fusion of a woman’s scream, an elk’s bugling, and a table saw and I am scared 💩less.

We have a few cryptids from Alabama, but my favorite is this one(and I'll include the most detailed description I found): Yunwi-Tsunsdi are a race of small humanoid nature spirits, sometimes referred to in English as "dwarves" or "fairies." They are usually invisible but sometimes reveal themselves as miniature child-sized people. Yunwi Tsunsdi are benevolent creatures who frequently help humans in Cherokee stories, but they have magical powers and are said to harshly punish people who are disrespectful or aggressive towards them. Their name literally means "little people." Some non-Cherokee people refer to them by the nickname "Yunwi" or "Yumwi," but that is an error... yvwi alone just means "person" in Cherokee.

No one could defeat the dragon so the shoemaker used a dead sheep and stuffed it with something explosive. Then the dragon died. 26:50 - They bought the biggest possible camera to mount (because it's the USA) and this is the image quality? I don't believe in some of the more ridiculous ones that people have come up with. But I do wonder how many of the more plausible ones are real. Or at least an animal that is very close to the description that someone might have just stretched the facts on, or just got things wrong.
