We spent three weeks road tripping through the beautiful Yukon Territory, Alaska and northern British Columbia in a Canadream Truck Camper. We drove over 3000km, got 1 flat tire and had adventures that will last us a lifetime.
We started our journey spending four days in Whitehorse exploring the beautiful capital city of the Yukon. Here we explored all the national historic sites, Miles Canyon and soaking in the charm of the biggest city in the Yukon.
From there we hit the road and headed towards Dawson City with a few stops along the way including a stop to Keno City where we ended up naming our Husky after the smallest town in the territory. We made it to the home of the gold rush explored Discovery Claim where they first found gold, visited Dredge Number 4 National Historic Site, Midnight Dome, S.S. Keno National Historic Site, gabled and watched the show at Diamond Tooth Gerties and hit the road up the Dempster Highway where we got a flat tire on Chris' birthday but it makes it all part of the adventure.
After we left Dawson City we stopped in at the Shipyard Graveyard on the otherside of the river from Dawson City and headed towards North America's highest border crossing and stopped into Chicken, Alaska. From Chicken we headed down to Skagway Alaska, into Northern BC and then onto the Alaska Highway to Kluane National Park where our breaths were taken away by the incredible mountain St Elias Mountain range where we took a plane ride up into the mountains and landed in front of Mount Logan
The Yukon has the most incredible sites and has turned into one of our favourite adventures we have ever gone on. Have you had a chance to explore the Yukon or want to?
Follow us on our adventures!

We two girls planning to take a road trip either on Dempster Hwy or Golden Circle from Whitehorse. We love dramatic landscape with snow mountain caps in the background and a green rolling hills with lake/river. Not interesting in So which one has most stunning view along the drive? Which is easier logistically?
@ChrisandNicole
@ChrisandNicole 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Camille! We would suggest the Golden Circle for easier logistics - there is more amenities (food, gas, hotels) on this route than going up the Dempster. The Dempster is very barren but beautiful. There are only a few places to stop on the entire highway + no cell service on the dempster - if you were to do that route we would suggest either a Garmin GPS that can use satellite to text / call if an emergency or a satellite phone. The Golden Circle there is so much to do and you have cell service for the majority of it as well :) Hope that helps! Feel free to check out our blog (www.cnaphotos.com) for lots of information on our trip through the Yukon + Alaska!

There is LTE service in various points throughout! Whitehorse is full bars of LTE, Dawson City you should be able the same. We found as we got into some smaller city’s our phones would find service again. Plan that you will not have service while driving for large portions of the trip though.

You've pictured Yukon in it's 4 and 1/2 month season. The other 7.5 months of the year are dark, cold, winter, undesirable large part of the year. If you wish to live in the Yukon, which I believe all wannabe Canadians, then send them first to the NWT or Yukon for several years building it up as in old days. After the several year period without any criminal record and pass an English test and being a Canadian citizen you may freely choose to go anywhere in Canada your home.

Canada is where assholes in helicopters makes you pull down your handmade cabin. Norwegian team of 2 tried to overwinter in Yukon. They had to demolish the cabin in 10 days after building it for 2 months. This was a reality TV show. Canada got some seriously bad reputation out of this.

What drone did you use? Also, are there any no-drone zones? How can you tell? Beautiful video 😍
@ChrisandNicole
@ChrisandNicole 3 жыл бұрын
We used an DJI Inspire 1 when we were here. The are no drone zones in the national parks, over crowds of people and each town and territorial park may have their own rules. There was not a lot of rules beyond what we listed above when we went in 2017 but lots has changed on drone regulations since then we we highly encourage you to check each area you plan to fly! There are no fly zone maps as well as doing some online research most of the time can give you a pretty clear indication, but also a good idea to ask locals if you plan to fly over their land and such as we were denied a few times :)

We were in the Yukon end of July through to mid-August. It was the perfect time to be there! Temperatures were warm and it was the midnight sun so it felt like you had endless day light!

What's the sign post you were standing at?
@ChrisandNicole

It is in Keno City - the hill is called Sign Post Hill!! Well worth the long switch back mountain road to get to the top. Probably one of our favourite spots on our entire trip!

@@ChrisandNicole place kinda looks like a midwest movie set with the way the buildings are, probably because of its history as a nineteenth century boom town during the klondike gold rush.

@@ltbubbas The town has been left as is since the goldrush! It is pretty incredible its like being transported back to the past.
