33:55 there’s a few reasons as to why your Zhu Zhu pet may not move, I own one myself after all these years that still makes noises and the buttons work but just doesn’t move. I’ve checked for the following: 1. The rubber grips on the wheels are too worn down for it to move. 2. Low battery only causes them to make noise 3. There may be hair stuck deep within the hamster’s gears, you would have to open the toy fully to access the majority of it 4. A plastic gear within the hamster may have chipped or worn out, causing it to not line up to other parts. It’s basically impossible to access and repair it without breaking the plastic casing and finding the right parts. Based on the fact that you can hear the noise of it trying to move originally, I believe Jilly is dealing with issue #4 sadly. If the other hamsters are not turning on at all despite battery replacement, I think those systems are either fully shot and unable to be fixed or some sort of rust/corrosion. I’m not a technology expert but those are the most likely reasons based on my knowledge of the toy, also I HEAVILY grew up with the series so I’m glad everyone’s starting to talk about it Although I’m kinda sad that no one is talking about the interactive website they had literally called “the Zhuniverse”, that’s where the majority of the old unplayable flash games they had were originally from.

I remember that website! There was a personality quiz and I think a dress up game, among other flash offerings I don’t quite remember Also I have a faint memory of I believe a third party site with these amazing 3D maze games sort of like Mazin’ Hamsters from Webkins, except I was unable to play them. I think either the had games had been defunct when I found the site, or they were detailed game concepts that someone made. Either way I was devastated that I could never run through a 3D maze as Winkie

when i was little, my mom had a blog and would sign up for chances to review prototypes of kids toys. she won the zhu zhu pet track, a bunch of zhu zhu pets, the babies, and a hamster ball. one thing i always remember is that the logos on the items said “go go pets” instead of zhu zhu pets, because they were from an earlier release. i loved them so much. i would put them in my best friends hair

My sister and I used to play with our Zhu Zhu pets as veterinarians, so we would take all of them out (we had like at least ten of them) and make notes on various qualities like fur softness, speed, ability to travel in a straight line, and the quality of their speakers. We’d give them like ratings and diagnose them with “bad speaker” and other things along those lines lmaooo. Simpler days.

Zhu Zhu Pets was the shit. I had a small handful of hamsters. Mr. Squiggles would frequently come to elementary school with me and had that great carrier case and plastic house playset to stay in. We also collected a couple Kung Zhu hamsters. When they changed the designs of the hamsters and cut the roster down to the main four, it left a deep cut my soul. Never forgiving DreamWorks or whoever was responsible for that reboot.

If you unscrew the screw on the bottom of them you can access the battery compartment, they take 2 AA batteries. And since they're old sometimes the gears split. In my channel I did a repair video of one of the gearboxes but it's old and I need to make a newer better version lol. Nice video, this was really detailed!

i had a MASSIVE zhuzhu pet collection when i was in elementary. i would pack literally everything up into big bags and take them to my little brother's tball games. most of my brother's teammates had younger siblings so when i started setting up my zhuzhu pets setup the toddlers would all flock to me and the moms would joke that i babysat for them so they could actually watch their child play on the team.

When Zhu Zhu pets were a thing my mom couldn't afford to get me an "official" Zhu Zhu pet so we got some off brand one that made a bunch of squeaking noises and would go forward and backwards. My brother and my cousin thought they were cool and wanted one. The knock offs were so cheap that my cousin and my brothers broke right away, and mine eventually stopped working since loose hair on the floor got tangled in the gears. Seeing this reminded me of my childhood watch Nickelodeon and seeing the commercials.

35:25 the reason she sounds so weird is probably because her batteries are close to dead. I had a talking animatronic cat as a kid that did the same thing, didn’t move but could produce sound, though it was altered in a way that came off almost demonic-y. I guarantee that if you open up the tummy somehow and replace the batteries that they’ll probably be working just the same afterwards. (The toy was a talking Seraphina from Barbie: The princess and the Pauper, for anyone curious ☺️)

I was unhealthily obsessed with these back in the day! Loved the video-one minor correction for both you and Athena P’s video-the orginal Zhu Zhu pets series didn’t just go in 2009. Up until late 2011-early 2012 they were releasing more classic hamsters. The later ones like Pumpkin and Snickleftitz came out then. They were released concurrently with the later stuff like the Wild Bunch and Puppies. So they were still making regular hamsters when those were out.

i actually got to meet ian james corlett back in october! i got his signature on some official art of glitch bob from reboot. he's a cool guy! it took until the movie section to realize i had conflated zhu zhu pets with g-force? wild honestly, i clicked on this video while vaguely remembering the guinea pig with earrings. i honestly forgot they had playsets at all for zhu zhu pets and kind of assumed they only released a couple of hamsters, not the insane amount they actually did release! back when they first came out, my siblings and i each got one for christmas. unfortunately i was getting a little old for them at that point and weirdly i think the novelty wore off for me because i had multiple pet hamsters (opposite from you, i suppose!). i remember seeing one of them just sitting on the kitchen counter LMAO no idea why. EDIT: just as a fun fact, i know of another show that got redubbed after a hiatus! "whatever happened to... robot jones?" originally had the main character, robot jones, with a robotic sounding voice. apparently they got complaints and after a break, the rest of the episodes were released with a completely different, non-robotic voice and the earlier episodes were redubbed to match, if memory serves. also pretty sure those early episodes with the robot voice were lost media for awhile!

I didn't have many Zhu Zhu pets, honestly can't even recall which ones I had aside from Chunk (which I find funny because now my family owns a puppy named Chunk coincidentally lol). I also had the purple bed and the hoodie outfit with sunglasses! I had one of the first gen babies too, I personally think they're a lot cuter than the newer ones. And the original DS game OH WAS I OBSESSED!!! Still love it to this day actually. The Zhu Zhu Puppies game was also pretty cute! Sidenote: I looked on the wiki and just found out that my beloved Bumper McBones is not a real Zhu Zhu Puppy and is in fact a Furry Frenzies toy... FUN FACT!! zhu zhu pets used to not have an emergency off switch, the company didn't add them until so many people filed complaints specifically due to them getting stuck in their child's hair and pulling until being cut out their hair. I know this because I WAS ONE OF THOSE KIDS it pulled my scalp away from my skull and my mother sent them a letter and as reparation they sent me.... A NEW ZHU ZHU PET! I have never looked at them the same since.

damn, i actually remember something about having these toys! i don't remember much of my childhood (...despite being only 18...), but i distinctly remember having two zhu zhu pets. one time, i brought them, in the mini carrying cases, to my mom's friend's house. mom's friend had a kid too, her name was tayva. that day, mom made me give my second zhu zhu pet to tayva and i was DEVASTATED. i don't know why to this day, but i was crying and trying to stop sobbing when i told tayva to choose one of the hamsters. i also don't know why my mother made me give the girl my zhu zhu pet, either.

Funny you mention Ian Corlett's voice work in everything else but MLP, he actually voiced a few characters on there. He also voiced in Salty's Lighthouse as Ten Cents, Otis, Zeebee and Zip, Kathleen Barr (known for voicing Trixie Lulamoon on MLP) was also a part of the voice cast as Ocho the Octopus, Scott McNeil (known for voicing one of the Flim Flam brothers on MLP) voiced Zorran, Zak and Zug. And Andrea Libman (known for voicing Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy on MLP) voiced Claude the Crab. Quite the cast of soon to be MLP voice actors. Another fun fact, Sweetie Belle is actually voiced by one of Ian's daughters, I think specifically the one who voiced Tiny Pteranodon on Dinosaur Train. She is also known for her role as Dizzy in the Bob the Builder 2015 reboot.

Just found my Zhu Zhu Tulip in the drawer! Such lovely noises♡ Me and my sibling owned two each- my first being Rock ‘O. I coincidentally also had Rock ‘O’s canon armor. Those armors added so much fun ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ×.* One day out of and I ran Rock ‘O over brown cheese. He never won a race again 🐁 I was so little (or just oblivious) I didn’t know they were part of more than "random hamster from the toy store that go vroom" (didn’t realise they were hamsters either). I regret giving away my zhu zhu pets ;-;. I do plan to re-buy my favs though. Also tbh I liked the older zhu zhu babies lol. (ps. loved the vid)

23:58 WRONG (unless im misinterpreting) the toys in the poster as far as the top ones go, were in fact mcdonalds toys because I HAD them (i think both the mr squiggles one and chunk) idk about you guys in the US but over here in portugal we got them at some point, i am unsure if it was around the release of the movie because i dont remember seeing in cinemas ever

I used to have some Zhu Zhu pets. I got them when they first started off around Christmas time. I only ever had Gen 1, though. I got bored of them rather quickly because whenever I had them out, my dad would keep messing with them and putting them on the carpet. Their wheels got a lot of hair in them because of it and they eventually just wouldn’t move anymore. It just wasn’t fun playing with them anymore.

I feel like I am going crazy, as I have a ton of Zhu Zhu babies including a Frog. Can't seem to find much about the frog at all! It's 100% a legit Zhu Zhu pet baby, and it has the bug birthmark
