I thoroughly enjoy watching all of your videos. I’ve been planning a move to Mexico for about a year now, and I’m so excited to be moving the end of next month to Ajijic. I visited Tlaquepaque in September and saw many of the places you showed in this video. It’s a city worth visiting!

Was there last spring very cute,, but more of a day trip type destination for the people of Guadalajara, didn't get a strong community sense, but I loved my day and we had a great lunch downtown,,
@AlmostRetiredinMexico2 күн бұрын
Yeah - it seemed more a tourist place and less a place to live.

The 3 level market reminds me of Soul Korea. Interesting. I am sure the art would be fun to see! The zipper thing is a classic. Love when that happens.😆🤣😆😄 One week til we leave!! So excited to be in Mexico and to meet you and Cat.

There’s a Tlaquepaque ‘art village’ in Sedona, AZ. At first I thought that was what this video was about

You were cracking me up in this one! Great video! Question: Do you ever get sick from trying all the drinks/street food?
@AlmostRetiredinMexicoКүн бұрын
I've gotten sick before, but not as often as you'd expect. I think I'm building up my tolerance. And it's not like I'm drinking the water ;-)

Thanks for the tour! We are trying to decide where we want to settle down. We really love GDL, thought about Aguascalientes too. Our Spanish is “asi asi,” so maybe somewhere with a little more ingles would work.

Most of us that live in the Guadalajara area don't congregate with other foreigners. There are a few parts of town with more people from the US/Canada but I only know a couple of people who live in Tlaquepaque. Chapala/lakeside is where you'll find the florida style gringos

At the end of your video, there were men in shorts behind you. lol. 1 was in board shorts. I hear you about your broken zipper. Did you find any shorts or pants?
@AlmostRetiredinMexicoКүн бұрын
Hah! There are some Mexican men who will wear shorts, but it's definitely not the norm. I never found any shorts - I think I had another pair in my luggage.

I heard that some American expats , living in Mexico for several years...legally we suddenly asked to leave the country by the Mexican government. Have you any information abiut these sudden changes?
@AlmostRetiredinMexico38 минут бұрын
I have not heard of anyone living legally in Mexico being asked to leave. Unless they did something illegal, which could put their immigration status at risk. Or if they were living in Mexico on tourist visas that expired?

Pulque - like anything else is a little different in each place. I had some in a pulquería in Xochimilco - natural, and flavored. They were smooth and good, with the lime flavored one being my favorite. I'm glad you found the mercado! Lots of great food on the lowest level, and the top level has talavera pottery/dishware for very good prices. My credit card's favorite spot is the Rodo Padilla gallery - he is famous for the fat man on a bicycle sculptures. I didn't notice a lack of extranjeros/English speaking tourists during my two visits to Tlaquepaque - they're there! I hope you were able to make it to Tonalá on one of their tianguis days - BLOCKS of merchants on the sidewalks!
@AlmostRetiredinMexico2 күн бұрын
Yes - I did make it to Tonalá. It was crazy busy in the streets. So much fun - and better prices than Tlaquepaque. I'll have a video about that at some point ;-)
@bjones99422 күн бұрын
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico We have a Sunday tianguis in the Juárez neighborhood of Mazatlán. When you visit you should give it a look! It's adjacent to the mercado hidalgo, so it's easy to find. Not as extensive as Tonoalá, and more of a 'second hand' thing - but still several blocks of fun.
