Disney doesn't own the majority of the parks in Japan. Japan seems to really care about their parks and the cities. Sadly the United States and Disney don't seem to care about things the way Japan does. The people are so respectful over there as caompared to here. I love your videos and you 2 make me smile watching them. I hope to run into you both someday. Until then I will always keep watching.

I get a sense that the Oriental Land Company just pays a licensing fee to use Disney IPs and they just do their own things.

Japan does everything better regarding packaging and presentation. For example, in my grocery store's international food section, even just plain noodles are trimmed and perfectly aligned in the package and wrapped in portions with paper bands.

@@BernardManansalayou are correct it’s a licensing agreement with OLC. The resort is not owned by Disney. I was a cast member at Disney and it’s the park we cannot get into free because it’s not owned by the Walt Disney Company

Imagineering still creates the Disney parks in Japan, but yeah OLC does a better job of maintaining it all and I think the Japanese crowds are more considerate and less destructive and also all the rides have sponsors to pay for upgrades and maintenance

So much fun! It's really interesting how the international parks randomly alternate between English and their native language! It's also interesting how Tokyo has the earlier version of things that had been changed in the US parks. Oh, BTW- WDW never had Stitch in the Enchanted Tiki Room, they actually had a version called "Under New Management" which featured Zazu from The Lion King and Iago from Aladdin. I worked there for a bit as a CM about 20 years ago. It got a lot of flack, but I always thought it was fun- it was the first version of the show that I saw. I never got around to going to Disneyland's Tiki Room as a kid. Stitch actually makes more sense with the tropical theme though! Under New Management was there for many years...they finally switched it back to a version of the original show several years ago after one of the Iago audio-animatronics caught on fire.

In 10 years I’ll take my daughter, once she’s old enough to appreciate it. Until then she can put up with the ever declining Disney experiences that we have stateside. It was a simple mantra when I worked at WDW in the late nineties, exceed guest expectations. Ensure every guest had an excellent experience. Those core values permeated the resort. It is clear that is still the goal in Tokyo. Food prices were more aligned with much higher quality. As a cast member making $7.80 and hour, I could afford to eat in the parks. That would not be possible today even with a cast member discount.

Note the TDL Train is like that because in Japan if you have a train with more than one station it is considered an actual transportation train and they must charge the guest. Same reason why you have to pay for the monorail at the resort.

21:20 There used to be a law in Japan where any railway with more than 1 stop had to follow regulations like collecting a fare or having the train cars enclosed. To avoid having to follow regulations it was made with only one stop. That's also the reason why the monorail in tokyo disney collects a fare as it has multiple stops.

When they were building Tokyo Disneyland back in the 80s, the Oriental Land Company excutives basically went on a shopping trip to the American parks, picking the best attractions, and the best versions, for their park. Hence why the Haunted Mansion is like a mix of both American versions. Also, the railroad doesn't have multiple stations because Japanese regulation would dictate they have to charge a separate feet for it. To avoid that they just made it a ride with a single station.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but Stitch’s Tiki Room, is a Japanese exclusive. It was never available in the US. What you are thinking of is the “Under New Management” version with Zazu and Iago. It made a lot more sense because they were both birds, but I could see how the pair might be annoying. It was also modernized with newer songs. What a lot of people don’t know is that Stitch actually had his own animé series. Apparently when Lilo grew up, Stitch decided to leave Hawaii and live with some other island girl, only this was a Japanese island. And for some reason, all the aliens followed him. One episode, the girl ends up going to Disneyland. Stitch was suppose to go with her, but missed his flight. He runs back home, and steals a ship that Jumba was still working on. He ends up crashing right into the Tiki Room, and somehow gets paint on him, tracking it all over the kingdom, which is why you see both the crashed ship and the paint buckets.

20:40 so, Japan, is very much of a train nation -- and there were so many laws about trains in place already, if Oriental Land (the company that's running Tokyo Disney Resort) wanted to run a train system with multiple stations, they had to obey the laws in ways that destroyed the Disney magics, and pay the train taxes to the department of transportations.... So they got away by just making it an attraction ride without any other stations. If you notice, disney sea does have a train and boats with multiple stops...after Tokyo disneyland's successes, the government seems to have allowed much more, but long story short, the land is still stuck in the 1990's in so many levels, and it's awesome :D

So curious about this version of the Mickey waffle cuz I gotta tell you - I just had the best waffle ever at Trattoria al Forno at WDW. I cannot wait to go back. And that sausage. Wow! Addicted!

I can’t explain why it was so much better but it was. Maybe because it was so freshly made?

@@OrdinaryAdventures I read that Disney uses 3 or 4 mixes and sometimes resorts combine them so it may just be right place, right time that day. Anyway, sounds scrumptious!
