Finding the right tyres for an Interceptor 650 can be a daunting task, but worry no more! In this video, we delve into the world of tyre options, sharing my experiences and insights to help you make an informed decision.
Join us as we discuss our journey from the stock Pirelli tyres to trying out alternative brands. Initially, I experimented with Ralco tyres, which, despite not being specifically designed for bikes like the Interceptor, performed well and suited my needs.
However, after clocking in around 20,000 kilometres, it was time to explore something new. Enter the MRF Nylogrip Zapper, a perfect match to the stock tyre profile. These medium-hard compound tyres offer enhanced durability compared to the current stock Ceat tyres. While they may not provide the same off-road confidence, they deliver excellent grip during sharper leans, ensuring a secure riding experience.
Watch this video to gain valuable insights into the MRF Nylogrip Zapper tyres and learn how they can enhance your Interceptor 650's performance. Don't compromise on quality or break the bank - discover the perfect tyre solution for your bike today!

Hey Rajan, saw the lights. Its pure LED with projector kind if lenses. Found it to be too harsh for opposite traffic. Won't be able to switch off either. My currently Osram is good, got the Alpha to light in wherever required. Thanks for the suggestion. Cheers!

Hello! Big fan of your channel! i’m from bangalore. I cannot find the MRF front tyre for interceptor 650. Also many dealers informed that they do have a tyre and it’s made for unicorn and the speed rating is ‘P’ rated and not ‘H’ rated and hence it’s not safe to go above 150kmph. Could you please give some clarity on it?
@WanderingSom
@WanderingSom Жыл бұрын
Hi Ritwik, As I mentioned, the tyre sizes are exact that of stock. Unicorn rear profile is same as Int650 front. The MRF tyres I am using are P rated. I have already done 140+ to test, though I don't recommend doing that too. Incase you don't find them jn Bangalore, connect with DaMods, Gurgaon. They can have it sent to you.

Hi som . I too converted both tyres on my INT to the zapper Y ... from my very first ride after installation I felt something unusual and wanted to check if you felt it too . While I go straight i.e when the bike is 90° to the road .. it feels normal . But the moment I dip the bike to either side to turn or even overtake a vehicle ... I feel like I am loosing the control over the inclination and bike will tilt more out of control if you let. Any thoughts ?? I am guessing it is because of the front tyre which was actually meant for the rear of other bikes. If you felt the same .. did you get used to it soon ?

Thats a very cool observation. You could possibly be right too, even though I didn't have similar kind of an experience. After switching from Ralco block tyre to these track types, the handling became very nimble, smooth n agile. Initially, it was bit uneasy for me to handle. During curvy ride of Ladakh, I did push the tyres hard and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was able to lean nearly till the edge; never faced any sort of an issue. I suppose, you gotta get used to these tyres. Thanks for writing in. Cheers!

7:23 I too changed to MRF 110/90 for front and 130/70. Was running on stock ceats. Like how he mentioned these are more rounded than the stock, so if you don't keep it straight the rounded angle will give you a least resistance to turn the front weight of the bike. It is a case you get adjusted to it and man when you get adjusted the bike becomes very easy to corner... I'm just loving it.

Hi som, informative as always, especially liked ur puncture video where u used the side stand to get the tyre out of the rim. I'm 6ft tall and running the OEM tall fly screen and on the fence about purchasing the carbon racing wanderer windshield does it help at >100 speeds and also I have a high rise handlebar going on will they still fit? Ive currently just ran 10.5 k on my Int which has the stock Pirelli tyres what would I suggest between ceat, ralco and mrf
@WanderingSom

Thank you, Ganesh. I genuinely appreciate your response and the experiences you've shared. Using the side stand trick is a clever old hack, and I can't take credit for its invention. I saw it in a video once and thought it was worth sharing. When trying it, just be cautious about the brake disc - it's a good point to remove it to avoid any dents. I'm curious, are you on the taller side for an Interceptor rider? The Himalayan might be a more comfortable fit for your height, as it's designed to offer a more accommodating riding posture. The CR windshield is a great accessory, but given your stature and riding position, it's uncertain how effective it'll be in reducing wind buffeting. Now, when it comes to tires, I've never personally used Ceat, and I've had some reservations about the brand, even for my cars. Ralco and MRF are solid options, and the choice largely depends on your typical riding terrain. Ralco tends to provide that extra grip and traction on loose or gravelly surfaces. Another tire worth considering is Vredestein; they offer profiles that match well with Interceptors. Wishing you joyful and secure rides ahead!

Really appreciate the long form reply. Ive ridden the Himalayan but Interceptors character and power delivery sold me on it, for my height I've increased the seat height and extended the rider and pillion pegs significantly forward But still looking forward to the 452 which my little brother will buy. I'll hold off on purchasing the wanderer till I do a bit more research, and check out vredestein. Keep rocking som 😁

Clearly Ralco was a more off roading tyre , this has a better street bias, just the tread design gives it up. Would have been good to see MRF wet road performance and grip there. Never quite understood why putting on the tyre in reverse helps in better performance?
@WanderingSom
@WanderingSom Жыл бұрын
Hello Vinay, I wanted to express my gratitude for watching the video and taking the time to share your comment. I am eager to test the behavior of MRF Nylogrip Zapper on a wet surface and will definitely provide an update once I have firsthand experience. Regarding your question about why I reversed the front tire, the explanation is quite simple. Please consider the following points: Both Ralco nor MRF offered authentic front tires. (I am told, it was only recently that MRF has finally launched a genuine 18" tyre.) Nearly all front tires, regardless of the brand, have an inverted V tread pattern. The primary purpose of the tread is to prevent or delay "aquaplaning," which is when water accumulates between the tire rubber and the road surface. Inverted V tread patterns serve multiple functions: they enhance traction during steering and handling, reduce noise, and improve braking performance, as the front wheel is responsible for stopping the bike. Since the Ralco and MRF tires I possess are originally designed for the rear, which is 18" in profile, flipping them allows them to effectively achieve the inverted V pattern. I am considering creating a video on this topic soon, where I will provide a more detailed explanation. In the meantime, I hope my answer has sufficiently addressed your query. Cheers!
