There are some very unique and scenic treasure out in the Anza Borrego Desert and surrounding areas if you know where to look. In this video, my son and I set out for a weekend to explore some places of interest while doing a little shake down run with the Ram Power Wagon and new Patriot Campers X1-N Code Red Trailer. With some luck we'll find a nice camp spot and cook up a little dinner!

I’ve spent a lot of time in Borrego Springs. My buddy’s mom lived out there for 30 yrs, was the principle of the HS IIRC. One of my funniest off road memories was of a tow truck stuck in the sand by one of the sculptures towards Coyote Canyon. He was stuck so bad we couldn’t even winch him out, down to the frame. They had to get a loader. He was the owners son too. 😂 Besides my old shop, JBA Speed in SD, all of the off road trails and adventure is what I miss most about CA. I love you videos, thank you!

FYI. I've been running 20-25psi on my 35" tires and factory wheels on my 2019 Power Wagon on rough trails. Makes a huge difference and no problems. The owner manual actually mentions 15psi for deep sand.

Home! I love the deserts and mountains in and around the entire San Diego County. My Dad used to take me off roading all the time as a kid growing up. When I got my drivers license I would continue the adventures and would buy my own 1980 Datsun 4x4 that was around 11 years old at the time and prior to my owning it, the truck had lived a very rough life. My next truck was a 1997 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 extended cab that I had bought brand new. That truck was night and day different from the first truck. Even though the truck was just your basic Tacoma 4x4 extra cab, it had crazy good off roading capabilities. In 2003, around 2 1/2 years after I got married, and my Dad, wife, kids and I all moved to Colorado, where she was from. The town is a small, predominantly agricultural area in the Northeast corner of the State, almost at the Colorado/Nebraska State borders that unfortunately have no good places to go out off roading and so as a result of that, if someone like me, who lives out here or lives in one of the surrounding areas, they and/or I have to drive at least a minimum of 2 to 2 1/2 hours just to get out to an off roading area. In 2007, I bought my second, new Tacoma. It was a 2007, Toyota Tacoma 4x4 extra cab TRD Off Road edition and it would out perform any of my previous trucks that I had in the past and also would go off roading in them too. When my kids got older I had to trade my Tacoma in on a full size truck so that my entire family could comfortably fit in the backseat of the truck. A few months ago I discovered this KZbin channel and have really started to enjoy it. The videos always bring back wonderful memories of home! I was planning on ordering what would have been my third Toyota Tacoma 4x4. This time a brand new TRD Off Road Pro. However, no dealership would sell one below MSRP and they acted as if I could not go anywhere else, other to them and that I absolutely had to only buy a 4x4 from them. As a result of that I shifted gears (no pun intended) and began researching and looking at new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon’s. In 2007, when I got hired at my job, I had to go to Cañon City, Colorado for about a month or so for training. There was a Jeep dealership right next to where I was staying at and one day I went in and looked at one and really started to like them. This was my first time seeing a Rubicon as well and I was very impressed by them and their stock, off road capabilities. After finishing training and returning home I began researching the new Jeep’s and was really starting to like them a lot. At the time I had no Jeep dealers anywhere close by to me so I knew that I would have to travel and order a Jeep at least 2 to 2 1/2 hours away. I eventually got in tough with a Jeep dealership in Cheyenne, Wyoming. They ordered my Jeep over the phone and we had a verbal agreement on the sales price. And fortunately, no deposit was ever put down on the Jeep. After it came in my salesman called me and told me that it had come in. I asked him to give me the out the door cost so my bank could finance it but that’s when the salesman upped the previously agreed upon sales price. Even after I showed him a copy of the emails and texts sent to me showing the previously agreed upon price. The salesman still wouldn’t honor his agreement and so as a result of that, I told him to pound sand and then bought my 2007 Tacoma instead. Shortly after subscribing to this channel I got the bug again and in November 2020 ordered a brand new 2021 JL Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited. It just came in this past Friday, on the 12th of February, 2021 and sometime this next week I will take delivery of it. I absolutely cannot wait to get it and already have plans to set it up to have it act as my primary off road vehicle. The first 2 add ons will be off road lights, Baja Designs Onyx 6, 50” LED light bar and then a shorter light bar for the front bumper as well as a winch. Next will be another identical light bar mounted on the back and then maybe even some smaller ones that are mounted on the sides of the roof. That way, if I need to turn night into day on some very technical terrain, I can totally do so. Or if I am volunteering on a search team for someone missing, I can illuminate a lot of things off trail. Or if a lost person is uninjured but is simply lost, they may be able to see my off road lights and hike towards them to get to rescuers and the search party. After those things get added to the Rubicon, I will then start adding things similar to the same things that are set up in many of the Jeep’s shown on this channel, for camping and staying off the grid for a certain amount of time. Back home my favorite “go to” place was at the very top of the Laguna Mountains, right before you started to drop down the mountain and head into the desert. The place at the top of the Laguna Mountains is called, “In-Ko-Pah”. Many awesome and amazing memories there.

Hi Brad. Per your compressor question, I have a 1500, not a power wagon but I mounted my ARB compressor(single) under the bed and plumbed a quick disconnect next to the license plate on the bumper. I ran the on off switch into the bed (used the plate where the bed lights go since I do not have that option). I love the setup. I suppose it has its pros and cons, such as having to duck under or lift the tailgate to plug in, but I like the that aside from the hose, my compressor takes up no additional space in the vehicle. I also like being able to have everything closed in very dusty conditions, considering I also have a tonneau cover to help keep cargo pretty clean and dry. Oh... Also, I have a regulator on my air hose so I just switch on the ARB, plug in my hose to the quick connect and two tires at a time until it shuts off at the set pressure.

For ARB dual compressor, I have installed mine - Have a 2020 Limited Ram 2500 HD crew cab, with Carli Lift/Suspension and 37!inch tires on Method wheels - in the place of the original spare tire. My 37 inch spare is for now tied down in the bed and will be soon mounted on a dual swing arm rear bumper. Best spot I found for dual ARB compressor with enough air, accessible if needed. Next step is to have a custom plate to protect it from any impact.... so far so good... 😊
