I'd love to get out in that area and do some exploring. My family came from Blisland Parrish in Cornwall England in the 1620's-1640's to Blisland Parish, VA (present day New Kent County).

You might want to weld a bead on the tip of that probe. Will make it much more easy to put into the ground. I threaded the tip of my probe so I can put a nut on it. When the nut wears down I can easily remove it and put another nut on it. You will be able to probe twice the area with a beaded tip.

Typically I agree but it is nice to have a probe with no tip once you have located the pit to understand the size of it
