An animation which outlines key findings from our Together for Childhood research exploring what young people know, think and do about child abuse.
Together for Childhood is an innovative, evidence-informed, place-based approach to preventing child abuse. There are four Together for Childhood sites across the UK: Stoke-on-Trent and Plymouth focusing on the prevention of child sexual abuse, and Grimsby and Glasgow focusing on the prevention of child abuse and neglect in families facing adversity.
Together for Childhood works with children and young people to educate them about what child abuse is and where they can go for help and support if they need it. This includes engaging with children and young people at schools, youth groups, and community centres.
Our research aimed to speak to young people aged 12-14 in the four Together for Childhood sites to understand what they know, think, and would do about child abuse. Our research team spoke to over 1,000 young people using surveys and focus groups. A research report, published on NSPCC Learning, captured what they said and how the learning can be used to benefit young people in Together for Childhood. This young person facing animation shares key findings from the research, and what adults can do to address issues raised and keep children safer from abuse.
