Nice! Other videos on extractions from ash stop with the brown crystals. Is the potassium acting as a catalyst in breaking down the organics?

I think the heat itself is what breaks them down.

If you let the crystal sit for a couple hours they release from the glass easy

Yes, I believe that is correct. It's possible there is also a small amount of KOH present.

@@perrygershin3946 It makes me wonder if potassium carbonate solution be safely used as a drain opener? Or will it create insoluble sediment that builds over times.
