I been mining here in the USA my entire life. I'll be out in Arizona from November 10th till it gets to hot out in the desert. I'd be happy to show you guys hundreds of mines if your gonna be in La Paz County, AZ this winter. Whoever told you there isnt any mines in the states that you can enter obviously doesnt know anything about mining or just wanted to discourage you guys for some odd reason. Best of luck guys!! One of my life goals is to own an old 1900s or 1800s engine, either an old mining engine or something that would've been used for it such as a buss engine or large truck engine. All this old metal does nothing but motivate me. Thanks Frank.

Patrick The Destroyer My life goal is to own a 1880’s-1930’s ghost town or mining camp, restore it back to its beauty. If I can’t achieve that then the next best thing would be is to create a fictitious Mining town on my own piece of desert land.

@@wygold yo there are so many old mines for sale.in Colorado. I was looking at The Maid of Athens for $10,000. There are so many like it around the crystal creek vane I believe. They're surprisingly cheap and come with alot acreage. You should look into it. Very attainable dream imho.

A few of us from Curlew made our way up there in the early 80's in an old Ford 3/4 ton pickup, we actually made it back down to the railway in one piece! A web search reveals little about this mine, and the best info. I could find is in "Discovering Washington's Historic Mines" vol. 5; pg. 224-227 "During its lifetime, the mine produced ore containing copper, zinc, silver, lead, tungsten, cadmium, and bismuth." You are correct, it was a copper mine primarily from 1915 to 1918. In addition lead, zinc, and silver were also mined here in commercially from 1946 to 1948. Tertiary metals encountered here include bismuth, cobalt, cadmium, and tungsten.

From the US mine data for the Talisman it appears it was primarily a copper mine discovered in 1896 and production work dates from 1915 but it also yielded lead, zinc, silver as primary products with 1st output in 1916. Bismuth, cadmium, tungsten, and cobalt are listed as tertiary. Looks like it was worked in two phases, 1916-1918 and 1946-1948. From that data one of the ores was chalcopyrite and the data says,l "ORE BODIES TABULAR-CONCORDANT WITH FOLIATION IN HOST ROCK; UPPER PART RICH IN SPHALERITE, LOWER PART RICH IN CHALCOPYRITE", but I don't see any mentions of arsenic or any mention of gold. From the notes: "521 TONS SHIPPED IN WORLD WAR I AVERAGED 5% CU, 4.1% ZN, 3 OZ/TON AG"
and one more.... mrdata.usgs.gov/mrds/show-mrds.php?dep_id=10042380

Frank, 1st Welcome to the USA... the further you guys go south the drier it will be. Intact head frames, tram stations, internal cribbing, timbers, buildings and machinery. The shear amount of unseen/documented mines albeit claims or prospect is greater then what has already been seen. Nonetheless their are plenty on known mines that still offer plenty too see for the 1st time. Really enjoying this series and should you ever be on on the eastern side of the Sierra's, your're in for a treat. Plenty of high altitude unnamed spots. Party on \m/

Welcome to America, Frank. At the very beginning you used a term we're not familiar with, it sounded like you said, 'meters'. I've heard that before and I think it has something to do with distance. In America, we use feet, yards, inches, miles, and damn far or damn close. You'll get the hang of it. This was interesting if it was a gold mine. They had to have a geologist with them to tell them where the gold was since there weren't any quartz veins that you usually see. Or maybe they didn't have a geologist and they just blasted here and there, crushed the rock and sent it off to someone else who didn't know what the rock was supposed to contain. Looking forward to your further discoveries. Thanks for sharing.
