As a geologist, i love to see your work. I miss the gold/copper ore deposits exploration days, now i work to find solutions to the problems created by the mining, and God knows that a lot of villages will just disappear because of the old mines, like in the next 30-40 years (working in France since 3 years).

Hello to Heather who was well prepared for the explore. Thankfully no one needed to use the toilet. The cart you used for a step up was pretty cool. That was quite a journey up the stope. It was huge in there and it was really helpful to get the perspective with Heather in shot. I had to laugh at your analogy of women with dresses and you with dynamite boxes. I loved all the artefacts that you were pointing out like the tram bucket, the cage for miners and core sample boxes. The mucker and the buckle for the drill were a nice find. That was an awesome explore - thank you so much Frank and Heather. Stay safe and take care. 👍 ❤️❤️

Hi Frank, a pretty cool mine with quite a lot of old mining relics to see, it looked like quite a technical mine climbing wise but Heather climbed it all like a champ. A really cool explore, it was nice to see you clambering around with someone which is always a lot safer in case of any accidents. Thanks to you both for showing us some more of the Lucky Jim mine. x

that is a massive mine, them stoped out areas just seemed endless, Heather did a good job too, thanks for another great adventure Frank, I was watching another mine explore channel earlier and you got another mention Frank, not tvr exploring this time, abandoned and forgotten places, gly could have used some help getting down some amazing incline shafts he found but won't do rope work alone which is safest option obviously, he then asked if canadian Frank would come down and visit him, you are one popular dude Frank, stay safe mate and catch ya next week again.

Hey man big fan of the channel; don’t know that I’ve made a comment before so let me start off with sorry about Max 😢. In this video I saw you looking up at 21:30 in the video and made me think about a spotlight I used to have. One of those 2 million candle power spotlights. They were kind of bulky but I have a house on the St Lawrence on the Ontario/Ny border and I used to be able to light up my neighbors houses through their windows at night across the bay. They are heavy and big but had really great projection. Just at thought. Thanks for all the great content I’m always looking forward to the next video! - Evan from Connecticut

I have only explored one abandoned mine and it was amazingly impressive. Old iron mine not horribly far from where I live. We didn't go as far in as you two did cause every shaft was pretty flooded or had been filled in with old blast rock ect. Pretty cool to always see what had been left in the mines, like old carts and such. Even as someone in the geology world and climbing experience, yah always gotta be super aware in such places for sure. Also what cool crates yah found!

Excellent video Frank. But I have to say that going underground without a helmet (Heather) isn't a good idea and is something that us lot over here in the UK would never do. A loose falling rock, accidentally bang your head, slip and fall etc., the risk is too great. If we forget our helmet(s) then we just stay on the surface and come back to explore the mine on another day.

Frank , @ 3:22 - the Ore Car wheels with the spokes were for "Spragging" . When tramming a loaded ore car down a decline , the miner would deftly throw a wooden sprag between the spokes thereby locking up the wheel so it would act as a brake and slow down the ore car so it wouldn't become a run-away . -- < Doc , Retired , Miner for over 50 years > .

Neat seeing the sodium cyanide drum I used to make drums just like that when I worked at cyanamid in Niagara Falls when I got there from 75 to 92 we made black cyanide for gold refining 48 to 50% strength the white cyanide furnace no longer ran when I got there not sure if it was sodium or not had drum shop to make drums like that had about 6 to 7 guys making 1000 barrels a shift then drum shop would shut down and go run cyanide furnace for the week.

I don't know if you guys ever plan to get around Northern CA but there was a neat mine near where I grew up called The Afterthought mine which at one point was productive enough to justify building a small town around it but now all that is left is 2-3 buildings because it deteriorates noticeably more each time it snows. Anyhow I don't even know if the mine is open or if it's caved in but I heard it is open. Historical info I found says that it goes down into the hill about 700 feet and goes into it by about 3000 feet so I don't even know if that is worth exploring. I always assumed that the reason there hasn't been a documented exploration of it is because nobody equipped to do so has got the notion to do so and also it is on private property but that doesn't seem to bother you guys LOL.

I'd be extra careful going into any Kalifornia mines. The nanny-state would definitely disapprove. lol. When i was 17, i was arrested for walking around in an abandoned construction site where there was nothing but a concrete slab and a few stacks of rotten 2x4's that had been there for years. In court, the guy who owned the property thought the arrest was beyond stupid and charges were dropped.

You should take a strong UV flashlight with you! You can see in some shots, that the LED in your flashlight is not the best quality, why it spits out a bit of UV on the outer edges of the beam (it's just a bit and even high quality flashlights don't use highes quality LEDs, but I'm judging by a harsh standard here). Sometimes you see the rocks fluoresce pretty strong and you can see the difference between the outer and inner parts if the light spot. I could imagine that these caves look absolutely stunning when blasted with strong UV
