I’m currently reading his “Controversies over Islamic Origins” and I have to say I’m impressed with how he manages to analyze the different strands of scholarship, great interview

Two great scholars together: it's the sum total of present-day Islamic origins scholarship. Best episode so far. Dr. Reynolds, it would be a delightful treat for us, the viewers, if you switched roles with Dr. Sirry in the next episode.

Professor Reynolds mentioned that most of his colleagues are believers but I really wish he would ask everyone he interviews what their personal religious views are. Not that they have to delve too deeply into that but I always wonder.

Are there any English tellings of The Isra wal Miraj comparable in style to Dante? I 'm looking for something both narrative and vivid in it's descriptions?

Should inspect if the translation to Islam (with a capital I), Christian and Jews are accurate or all encompassing as they are made to play out, till today. My thoughts are the actual/correct translation will be accorded to a small/specific sect within each aforementioned groups. Then, to think the Quran was properly written as a religious book, and from a god, no less, is a huge stretch. The main premise for the Quran was to disprove Christian and Jewish sects but this grew into an Arab expansionist book as time progressed, over the first 50 years and this explains the continually changing Quran while also explains its numerous contradictions deliberate attempt to obsfucate by compiling the book in a non-chronological order.

Upto 80% of Indonesian university students have radical Islamic perspectives. This is a sick country. Islam is also a business and provides great power. Indonesia is sick and crippling fast.

I would call it false... because if you check which person or party get elected ? Then, islamist party or islamist figure won't be elected because most of indonesian people are open and "secular" people. I would say, more "cultural" even in religion. What i mean by that, they are muslims but it looks like islam-hinduism kind of people. Islam in religion but hinduism in culture and philosophy.

You quoted verse 5:51 If you open the Qur'an and read verse 5:51 O you who acknowledge, do not take the Jews and the Nazarenes as allies, for they are allies to one another; and whoever takes them as such from amongst you is one of them. God does not guide the wicked people. You will definitely think these talking about all Christians and Jews but this errantly wrong. Qur'an is understood by cross referencing. Now a few verses later in Verse 5:57 provides the characteristics of the people of the book, whom we are instructed not to ally ourselves with. Muslims should not ally themselves with those who insult their values or promote hatred against them. Obviously, this instruction is in the context of religious conflict; not in the context of social, personal, or financial relationship. There are righteous people among the people of the book (3:113; 3:199: 5:69). Eating their food or marriage with them is permitted (5:5). Verses 5:57 and 60:7 are among the verses that provide us with basic principles in dealing with others.

Yasir qadhi indonesia vertion.......😂

I wouldn't compare him with Yasir Qadhi. Prof. Mun'im Sirry is more honest intellectual muslim. He blatanly explain the problem, while Yasir Qadhi himself try to "hide" it from people if he sees something problematic.

…then he certainly wouldn’t curse himself or demand people to seek God’s refuge & protection from himself before reciting the Scripture (Qur’an 16:98) *_”A house divided against itself cannot stand.”_* _(The Gospel of Matthew, __12:25__)_
