beautiful lodge, imagine the history in that place, my lodge was a 2 story wooden, spanish style, from the 1800's but was knocked down then rebuilt into a bland, modern box. that lodge looks like the brother Masons moved into a more modern facility, and left everything as-is for history, which is the trend. i cant imagine the budget for the maintenance of that old place in the UK it'll be worth Templar gold to keep that lodge up indefinitely. thanks for respecting the place.

@Papa Saint Mark Greetings Brother Mark. Woolton Hall was at one time owned by John, now the Caretaker and several Lodges met there for many years. It was then sold on to property developers. I understand that their plans were to make a nursing home out of it, or possibly self contained flats..but they ran in to problems so are just leaving it as is. The Lodges that met there went to other Masonic homes, like Liverpool Hope St., Woolton Golf club (literally just down the road) Prescot or Litherland. I was Initated there in 1997.

Those paintings could easily be stolen or vandalized. I wouldn't leave them up and I'm surprised they haven't been nicked. The sheer beauty of this place is awe inspiring. If I aint mistaken about the geometry in the symbol resembles their creativity while the "G" stands for God (which formerly not included beforehand). That's because everyone could join the freemasonry whether you are a Christian, Muslim, Buddhist etc. There'll be a ritual for new members where they say the oath to the GM while holding each religious book (Bible if you are Christian, Quran if you are Muslim etc.). The G doesn't stand for anything specific. It's left up to the individual Mason to decide what it means to him. There is no oath to the Grand Master. The oath (we call it an obligation) makes a man promise not to reveal the sign, grip and word of the Degree being worked... the famous "masonic secrets". The holy book that a Mason holds dear is usually placed on a pedestal, while he rests his right hand on it when talking his obligation. It is never held.
