There's so much detail in those buildings that it's hard to grasp that it was only done for a movie. They did a fantastic job recreating that place. Thanks to the guards and dogs that place is scarier than a haunted location. I absolutely love this place. Can you imagine being there in the reals buildings back in 1930's Shanghai? Great job Josh, thanks so much for the tour and for taking the risk. ♥

I just finished watching the movie The Eight Hundred on KZbin and wow, what an intense, emotional piece of history to watch. I watched you and the guide Robin (who I later realized I watched him do a tour of an abandoned theme park that also had security on the property) Your video with Robin was epic and that was what made me seek out the movie. As I watched the movie it was surreal to see the actual buildings you guys went into and explored. Absolutely loved this video you made with him.

Josh, you've got a pair. I was in China years ago. Honestly I was terrified. I was on a train with armed guards walking by pairs the length of the train. Marching, in twos. Stars on their caps. Rifles slung over their shoulders. I mean I was afraid. And they were everywhere. When it came to leave they took my visa and I sat on a concrete floor with barbed wire to my back for an hour and a half. I had no clue why I was detained. They handed me my visa, I kept my head down and got on the train, and I wanted to cry. I didn't, but I won't ever forget it. I was in Guangzhou aka the old Canton city. Armed guards were everywhere watching. I have high respect for you Josh. Thanks for the great video and the memories and feelings again. High anxiety at its best.
