Hey there, great video! What type of T-slot does this rack have? M8? Thank you!

Low and sleek, but you have to remove a slat for binding clearance. Aero bar mount, but you will not have to remove slat. The other question would be how will the missing slat be a issue on how you plan to use the rack when the ski rack are removed. Yakima gives so many configuration options. I still have my Yakima systems I bought back in the eighties. Thank you for sharing your videos, ideas and projects.

Yesterday, after editing the video; I removed the slat just to see how it fit. The skis definitely fit better, especially with my other skis with Rossi Axial 2 bindings (Taller). I think I will leave the slat out for winter and reinstall it when I take the ski racks off for summer. Removing the slat was a matter of 4 screws and took less than 5 minutes; so it wasn't that big of a deal. I think removing the slat and having the sleek profile is going to be the way I run these. The aero bar mount would make it so that I wouldn't have to remove the slat; but I kind of hate the way they look. That's my "today" thoughts about it, but ultimately, It's super modular and gives me some freedom to change my mind as I feel like it.

Did you ever do the build out? I'm trying to find other crosstreks since they are much smaller than the outback. My first build didn't go great

Nope. This last year was rough.

What happened to the Crosstrek??? No vids for a long time?
@EXPLORISTlife4 жыл бұрын
Still have the Crosstrek. Since the Covid travel restrictions are putting a damper on our travel, we haven't made any modifications to it though. Will fire that up again next year though. I've been updating articles on the blog and remodeling our house, so haven't had a lot of time for videos. Will get back to it in due time. Thanks for checking in. :)

Still have it. Just no new videos. The solar consulting service I started up got busier than expected.

Hi Nate I need you to ask you. I have 2 different solar panels. 1 solar panel is a Rich Solar 300watts, max power voltage 18v, open circuit voltage 22.35v, max power current/IMP (A) 16.67. the second solar panel from Sungrid is 175 watts, voltage at Pmax35.2v, current at Pmax 4.97A,Open circuit voltage 43.6v. I bought one controller Renogy DC-DC ON BOARD BATTERY CHARGER WITH MPPT DCC50S which I want to connect the 300watt solar panel. I also bought a EPEVER TRACER BN SERIES 40A which I want to connect my 175 watt solar panel. Question is can I connect both controllers to 2 new deep circle AGM batteries connected in parallel and not damage them. I called the company that supplied me the batteries and they told me I cannot connect both controllers to the batteries because it will confuse the batteries. What is your opinion. Cheers Bill

I'm not sure how those two charge controllers will interact with each other. I do know that Victron charge controllers talk to each other to coordinate charging efforts, but I'd guess that mixing and matching lower-end components may not have that functionality.

There is another t-slot mount kit that is taller and allows use of the fatcat extension arm that helps with bindings clearance. Check it out.
