Room full of gunpowder and guns, yet the most dangerous thing.... is a battery. Life lessons people.

The gun powder and guns are controlled by humans. The battery explosion happened on t's own. Out of all my years of living, never once has one of my guns gone off without the help of a human.

congratulations !!! you just taught an old dog new tricks, Thank You so very,very much. I went directly into our BACK ROOM (wink,wink )and cleared all of the potential problems and have properly stored them. I will also unplug the laptop and my cane with attitude when I am not home. I thought that I had taken ALL of the safety precautions to keep us groove but damn did I miss that one. Well it's A799 now. I am sharing your movie with all my boys and friends and ask them to do the same. Thank you again and I am glad you and yours are 4.0. Most Sincerely, Pops

Now you have learned something about exploding lithium batteries. Most of the lithium battery problems rotate around rechargeable batteries, but occasionally even the ones that aren't rechargeable can go bad and catch fire or even explode, we get lax about these things but they are potentially dangerous.

Those 18650’s are no joke. In the vape world they blow up all the time in people’s hands. The plastic jackets gets a small tear in them or they leak and ground out and pow. Lil bomb

I do my reloading in an out building, separate from the house. If your reloading room has only one entry door, do your work at the opposite side of the room and keep a fire extinguisher. Use a high quality charger for lithium batteries. Store powder and batteries separately outside the house if possible.
@kirkboswell25758 жыл бұрын
I have heard of this several times. Up to now, it has been Asian made lithium batteries. Most recently, those two wheel kids hoverboards. One family lost their house. Thanks for the heads up. I was under the impression that it was the bigger lithium batteries when being charged. This is the first time I've heard of one going off on its own. AND I thank you for being safe and separating your components. Just FYI, I haven't heard of nicad or alkaline batteries doing this.

Man those lipos scare me, I've seen some crazy fires from just the size battery's we use in our phantoms. Enough to burn a house down, for awhile I actually was putting all my big lipos in a metal box that was sealed. They really should warn more about lipos they can do some serious damage.

Thanks for an important ‘heads up’. 1st, I had to show my wife the lockers. Good Idea for my garage. Next; years back I stored all my powders/primers in my reloading room (in the house). I have since built a shed (away from the house) and now store all powders/primers (including Pyrodex) within separate compartments back there. Yes, there is some inconvenience to this practice but should ‘Murphy’ pay me a visit, the crater will be in the back lot- - - not in the house. In addition, the wife is much happier. (Remember the saying? Happy Wife?) Finally, my tack lights and other devices which are powered by Lithium batteries are now stored ‘sans’ battery. Yes, I keep one tack light (and my trusty Maglite) by the bed but powered by Alkaline batteries. Not as good but I feel more at ease… Again, thanks for the video.

You should only use Panasonic 18650s, or protected derivatives of them like those sold by Orbtronic. The protected batteries are about 1/8" longer and may not fit everything.

I got a cheap flashlight for my mossberg that came with a cheapo 18650 battery. I'm at work right now but now I just want to haul ass home and throw that battery out of my garage.

For the record I remove all batteries,especially lithium ones, when not in use and keep them in my battery cabinet. It is a fire and blast resistant metal box that is isolated from all other sources of combustion. I also have a co2 fire extinguisher close to it. Some say it's overkill but is being prepared not what we are about? Being battery aware is not a bad thing!

Were they lithium batteries? Two weeks ago I pulled my old laptop out so I could take it on vacation with me, and started charging it up and updating software on it. I had set it down and was going out for a bit when I saw orange flames through that room's windows. I dashed back into the house to find my partner fighting a fire caused by the laptop's batteries exploding and burning! Scary, scary. My lesson here is never to leave a lithium battery charging without supervision. Never again!

Lithium battery? They are prone to doing this! We had a set of night vision goggles do this,in flight! Pilots also now forbidden to keep spare batteries in their flying suit pockets. Everybody needs to be lithium battery aware.
