Hi Clyde, first of all thank you for your time in making the videos. They have helped me a lot. I thought I had posted comment earlier, but I'm not seeing it, so I'll repost. I noticed when you created the 114 universe, then layout tab, when clicking on the bulb; it selected your icicles up chase model. That was changed to the 114 universe. I'm guessing the bulb still worked, because it was still start channel 1 universe 1. Just wanted to mention, as it may confuse some folks. universes and start channels have bitten my ass many times! I know the feeling well. Hope this helps. David

Simply awesome videos! What you call a train wreck I envy lol keep up the good work, your teaching me a lot even if it's taken me 2 years to finally get my lights to come on lol

haha... I have learned so much over the past 3 years. I made mistakes at the start, and am trying to upgrade to new props. Utilizing all the options in xLights is almost impossible, and I feel like once I get things setup nicely, there is something new that causes me to work even harder to add in. It's a "train wreck" because I'm still trying to convert sequencing from those old (small props on top left) to the new props I've added over the past month.

Leechburg Lights you made a video a couple years ago and mentioned me cause I asked a question. I'm just now getting the lights figured out let alone sequence any of my rib lights yet. lol I think is harder to define the e1.31 in it and I'm still trying to figure out universes. But I decorate the old mans fence line across the street from me as well and I just can't get a good visualizer made up to show all my lights so I love what yours looks like. And I have 2 raspberry pi's just setting on my desk that I'd like to get to run my shows. I watch your videos so much my wife actually said thank god you don't live close, she'd have to call your house so you could send me home for supper. Lol nice work, I do love your vids.

Yes I remember that well! Glad you are moving forward. I can tell you that many folks have the same challenges. Remember that a universe means/stands for a set of 512 channels. One pixel = 3 channels of dmx, a red, green, and blue channel... so 3 channels x 170 pixels = 510 channels. You can only fit 170 pixels into a universe. The Protocol known as DMX (Digital MultipleX) was meant for and used by professional lighting crews, not necessarily "light displays". That being said, the last 2 channels are never used (at least by me. So when setting up universes in xLights, make my universes 510 channels. In all, I'd say I have roughly 50+ hours of work into my layout. I spend a lot of time on it to best represent the display. And yes, if you were closer we would definitely get along lol. I think "Christmas" all year long now :)

Would be nice if you start with importing as that is what the majority of people would be doing.

Good point, didn't think about it back then because we were happy just to get the option :) Cheers!
