Ground hog day. So depressingly familiar. We've seen it all before with Moyes, with Louis, with Jose, with Ole, and with Ralph. It's always the same outcome. Many of the same players, the same executives and the same owners throwing another manager under the bus. I keep hearing people saying "What have you seen in Ten Hag to suggest he should keep his job?". Errrr... last season? "United are the worst coached side in the Premier League". So explain last season? Did Ten Hag just forget how to be a football manager over the summer? What exactly is the evidence to suggest that changing the manager is going to change the outcome? There are so many factors I don't hear ANYBODY talking about. Like the fact we've got a new starting goalkeeper for the first time in 11 years. Does no-one remember the nightmare we had inbetween Schmeichel and Van Der Sar? Does no-one remember it took De Gea two years to settle in? De Gea to Onana is a HUGE transition. And he's dealing with a gazillion back fours in his first season? There's also been ENORMOUS upheaval going on with the ownership situation. Every non-playing staff member at the club unsure whether they're going to have a job from one week to the next. And then the playing staff. Ronaldo spitting the dummy. Sancho spitting the dummy. Rashford spitting the dummy. Henderson spitting the dummy. Dressing room leaks. The Greenwood scandal. The Anthony scandal. De Gea contract situation. A plague of injuries. But no, it's all down to the guy who was being praised for his brilliant, pragmatic, results focused management skills last season, who was being talked about as the guy to finally get Utd back competing. By the same ding dongs who are now calling for him to be sacked because he's not up to the job. People are useless. Short sighted, ignorant and useless. If they sack him, it's a clear sign that nothing is going to change under INEOS. If they sack him, we'll be waiting another 10 years to win the league. I hate football.

@@buzzmjolnir My point is last season was not the over achievement some think it was. The football was not good and even the way the draw worked out in the cups was fortunate, avoiding the better teams. Getting home draws etc. Still did not beat any top 9 team away. The way we finished last season was a warning to what was to come this season. Now the worst in premier league history of the club. In my opinion all of his signings apart from Martinez have been poor. He had 7 of his signings against Crystal palace and it showed. Due to his poor coaching and tactics he has managed to reduce the value of our players. Antony 90 mill to maybe 20 mill Hoyland 70 mill to maybe 30 mill Casimiro 70 mill to maybe 30 mill Wan Bissaka 50 mill to maybe 20 mill Onana 50 mill to maybe 20 mill Sancho 79 mill to maybe 30 mill Rashford was valued at 100 mill maybe 50 mill Bruno 60 mill maybe 40 mill Thats over 300 million he has reduced off our players value. That is due to having no clue how to coach the team, how to set up the tactics, how to man manage the players. It was easy for him in Holland where the league is piss weak and he was given all the best players. In the Premier League he has been found out. Managers of Bournemouth, brighton, Fulham Crystal palace, Burnley, Coventry and Nott Forest have not had the luxury of hundreds of millions of pounds worth of players but have still been able to at various times play tenhags team off the park. You get average players and coach them into a good team and then they look like top players. Tenhag has done the exact opposite.

It definitely doesn't rate as a well thought out objective assessment of Southgates managerial skills. I mean he doesn't know whether f*ck is an adjective, noun, or verb. It can be all three, of course, but not in the same sentence! What does an international team manager do if not build a squad? Southgates record as England manager is the the best since Alf Ramsey. I think, for what my opinion is worth, is that managing a national squad bears no comparison to managing a club team. In choosing a national team the manager has access to every qualifying player in the world, but he doesn't have them under his control or influence constantly. The club manager, of course, has a small (relatively) squad of which he has complete control and time to mould to his style.

I dont really believe these "downing tools" stories. They dont make sense for the players for the reasons already said, but on top of that they feel like the transfer stories where united are signing 100 players every window.
@SimonWakefieldUK6 ай бұрын
It's very easy to roll out the downing tools line but most of the time it's as much about tactics as anything, if you ask players to play in a way that doesnt play to their strengths and perhaps even plays to their weaknesses then the players will look frustrated and like they CBA. He has us this season playing with no width, that's different to most of last season. This is highlighted by Antony, he favours narrowing the play, it's said it's because he has no right foot but he had played off the left a couple of times and guess what he does, he cuts in on his right foot. And this is how Radford has aldo played which all suggests it's an instruction. Not only does this instruction not fit Rashfords game, infact it plays to his weaknesses but it just compacts the play centrally forcing more pinpoint passes being needed to unlock teams. And the FBs who last season were either under or overlapping are doing much more of that stepping into cm positions than creating an overload to draw out defenders and allow space to be found. And again if we look at Antony, the single argument that his fans would make for him is his defensive work but that's not been on display this season as much, playing narrow creates space for opponents but he doesn't try and get back as much these days, he strolls back, as does others playing out wide which again making it seem like an instruction

You lot act like it was fergie in charge before eric came in. No we've been through 2 world class managers(Mourinho and Van Gaal), a club hero Ole, Moyes and Rannick - the latter told everyone the truth 2 years ago. We are not that team anymore we need to build. For Once, let the manager build what he has in mind with his year left. just like the allowanace that arsenal, liverpool gave to there managers Artetea and Kloop and also fergie had 4 years. Also theres no managers out there that are stand out candidates, the last year we give eth, will give us time if it doesn't work out. I was there to watch every home game for 4 years when fergie came and it wasn't pretty. Stop mixing with the mainstream media , it reduces your honest opinion as you'll naturally tend towards what your "heros" think. these same heros didn't live under judgement of socia media when they played, its chalk and cheese. Yes players aren't the best on football opinion which is weird but the last few years have utterly proved it. The Media want to see us burn as it earns them money via clicks, we need to get rid of players that aren't up for it and give the manager a chance at a properly run club considering he's basically been running it after his first season after seeing what Murtough and Arnold can bring - nothing. Thats unfair, he has earned his stripes and had to deal with the crazy injury laided season Plus Ronaldo, Sancho, Antony Greeenwood and Rashford. No manager has that sort of presssure ever. Yest we are aomehow still high in the table and in an fa cup. Eric GHets to finals and i agree he needs to imporve in some of ghis decisions, but give him a chance man.

Question? Winners of the FA cup get europa league football next season. If the winning team have already qualified then the runner up get it. So either way we we have europa league football next season where every we finish in the league. Unless we fiinsh 4th but that's not going to happen.

INEOS don’t get to the level they’re at by operating on guy feelings and emotional reactions. They’re pragmatic and logical and it’s not hard to see the players aren’t doing the job. They aren’t going to pay EtH to leave while paying a new manager after the academy success under EtH. It’s all part of the project and fans have to do better after a poor result in a season of poor results.

The players need holding accountable for all of this they can’t be immune to criticism and they can’t just be aloud to get away with getting another manager sacked ETH needs to be backed and if the players who don’t have the balls to be here then get them out and get players who the quality and most importantly the mentality to be at this football club

Thing is the eorld doesnt run on what ifs, the club doesnt fill anyone with confidence long term and he wasnt exactly filled with confidence with the signings he recieved or should i say lack of signings, my guess is his confidence has been depleted more and more as the season has gone on, players letting him down, injuries left right and centre, lack of disipline in certain players, media on his arse 24/7, online fans berating him dailey! Hardly the environent that promotes confidence in anyone frankly. Feel sorry for ten hag and feel hes been managing with one arm behind his back for karge parts

There is something else that people haven't thought of. VAR, I'm not going on about how many times it's gone against us, that goes without saying. More though its the mental affect it has on the minds of players. With each time there is a poor outcome in this season it has to play on the players. If you watch the games back after these decisions their body language is deflated. It's like here we go again for them. It shouldn't do, if anything it ought to fire them up. It hasn't though, it's a factor that does IMO change the attitude

I think the team should have to sit in front of a room of fans every now and then to answer our questions, so we can keep them accountable. Also bring Keane back as an assistant, players need to fear the managers. You can't tell me City players don't fear Pep, he pulls them up all the time, they definitely are afraid of his hair dryer treatment.
@stephenbadman6976 ай бұрын
No the truth is that half the dressing room has lost the manager. How many times are the fans channels going to get a manager sacked in his second season. Can’t you spot the pattern yet ??? Patience is the key and back the manager and let him change the culture and get rid of the players who continue to down tools when they don’t fancy it.

I personally think all this Gareth Southgate talk's a potential smokescreen for Graham Potter, he's worked with Dan Ashworth before at Brighton and they performed well together. I do think we'll be going more down the English personnel route too...they might even be delaying the announcement til Ashworth's signed on the dotted............................ line.
@danielpaget27386 ай бұрын
This constant acceptance by the media that players can and will down tools whenever they want - is disgraceful. What other industry would find this kind of behaviour acceptable? Why isn’t there performance based contracts? This feels like we’re all waking up on Groundhog Day. Bin these melts off immediately.

Tuchel took PSG to a UCL final because the French cancelled completely their L1 during the covid pandemic which left PSG free to prepare for the final 8 for over 4 months.
@capadam14406 ай бұрын
Come on, the answer to is Tuchel better than Ten Hag is just "Yes.". Remember Ten Hag had only won the Eredivisie with Ajax, who are basically the Bayern in that league. He had a successful run in the CL, which surely is about time for them?

Start recruiting on character and that means being very wary of large transfer fees for teenage talent - they are not fully cooked yet on maturity and are risky investment

I appreciate the content, but one suggestion for improvement, could you stop banging the table? Or get some mic stands that aren't on the table.
Players care to play for the manager, also don't care play for the fans.

We know Ashworth’s arrival is imminent. We know Ashworth hires English so these are names I think he'll push for 1) Southgate 2) Howe 3) McKenna (though he’s Northern Irish) 4) Carrick

Listening to the 99 winners talk last night pre documentary...the consistent advice for the current utd players was - work hard, train, concentrate & be self motivated. For at least 10 years woodward is responsible for destroying every single standard SMB, SAF, Edwards, Gill, Harrison, Stiles & Ryan built. Its clear as day, we have 90% of a squad of 25 players who have no character, no love for the badge & no will to want to improve even for themselves. The ones who try, Garnacho, Mainoo & Martinez are coincidentally the least well paid players at the club...Ineos need to understand that message. Playing for utd needs to be about winning & working as a team first & money should be their secondary concern. Even on 10k per week its not like you can't buy Prada & Gucci 😏 A player clear out is necessary well before pinning another feable season on the manager. ETH may not be the right guy but he needs more of a chance than the majority of this squad. & IF ineos decide Southgate or Potter is the way forward...we as fans are in deeper trouble than we ever imagined!

This is why Ten Hag keeps telling us that some of the players don't follow the game plan. And I too see that because this kinda game plan needs discipline. Players with discipline of a soldier in an army. Half of United team has no discipline! They are singular in thoughts and aren't fit enough because they will surely need to put in the extra work to build themselves strong but the culture has been I'm done for the day and I am going back to take a rest or whatever that they prioritise first. It is obvious that the other "lesser" teams players are stronger and fitter that of United's because it is evident in many matches. I'd pay these players their compensation no matter how much because in the long run, the club would lose their stature and their economic strength.

Bottom line is its not which problem is the lesser of the evills. It's GET ALL THE PROBLEMS OUT! That includes: ETH, Bad players, poor culture, Poor recruitment, poor infrastructure etc. Big clubs tackle all problems or try to so that they can stay great! If ancellotti didnt win the league and was knocked out last night, he would have been fired.. if ETH reached a Champions league semi final and lost everything else this fan base would have wanted him to stay for 5 years. If you want to be great make the decisions that lead to it
