I think before the final 45% of fans (tops) were ETH out, when ETH smashed City in the FA cup final about 20 to 25% changed their mind and Ratcliffe was in that group - may have good reason but couldn't deny the performance on a big stage (proper result and performance) and the manager's part in that, accepting that the situations he's had to deal with and the mess which was there since Ole was enough mitigation to give him until the end of his deal to turn it round. I could be wrong but watching the trophy lift after popping Pep I thought I could lip read Ratcliffe saying to Brailsford, "we can't sack him after that.." I hope what happened then was Brailsford did his review anyway and did due diligence on a few managerial candidates and none of them fit so they made the right call. It wasn't pleasant it was a stress but it was different from what the Glazers have done historically and that gives me hope, regardless of whether it works out with Ten Hag you have to respect the fanbase and see through this project. Last season wasn't good enough in any department so get better in all departments without sacrificing the manager and you can build on the season largely because of the FA cup form and some big game performances.

I think, and this is pure conjecture on my part with no evidence to back it up so take it with a grain of salt, that McKenna was told by United to stay at Ipswich. Back when Rooney was signed, United wanted him to stay at Everton for another season and only acted when Newcastle came in with a bid. I think it's similar with McKenna. I think United earmarked him as a future manager but when Chelsea started sniffing around, United thought they had to act and had talks with McKenna. Once United started being linked with McKenna, reports came out that Chelsea were no longer looking at him and soon after, he signed an extension at Ipswich. I think it's because McKenna obviously preferred the United job and was willing to wait for it. I believe he was told by United that he wasn't going to get the job now but that PL experience with Ipswich would stand him in good stead in a year or two if and when United want to change managers. With that in mind, I think McKenna backed himself to still be in a position where United want him in the next couple of years (it's definitely a gamble) and signing a new deal with Ipswich was a way of showing loyalty to them and also ensuring, from Ipswiches point of view, that when United do come calling, they'll get a good fee.

I think united just drew up a list of potential head coaches and spoke to all of them. Nobody was offered the job. Keeping ETH in my opinion is the lesser of two evils. The slew of candidates to replace ETH are not good although they are fantastic coaches in their own right but not to the extent that we’ll do anything special that hasnt been done under ETH should they replace him. Keeping ETH for now is the right choice but only time will tell if it works out or not. I think the onus is on the manager to perform and he definitely has to do better than last season. Perceptions will definitely change if he still couldnt get our team to perform.

If the rumours are correct Ineos were more than entitled to shop around to see if there was a better alternative it ETH seeing as they now run the club they are doing this throughout other departments of MUFC and he wasn't their choice in the first place . To me (a bit of a ten Hag outer) it only made good football business sense to have a good look around at who was available, seeing as it was not exactly a successful season. Though if they had sacked him after that fantastic FA cup win without being in the position to sign up a new manager to rival the likes of City's Guardiola (e.g. maybe Guardiola himself) then I think that would've been a retrogressive step. The time to sack ten Hag had passed by the time we lifted the FA cup. But at least now we know that the new hierarchy at the club will actually think the unthinkable even at the cost of their public image and that they believe that ten Hag is actually the best way forward in their opinion.

31% was own by public shareholders and Glazers owned 69% before Ineos. Ineos bought 25% from the Glazers and enough class b shares from the shareholders which equates to 2.9% of United's value. So Ineos now own 27.9% but they'll take it up to 29% in a couple of months.
