Roof nail placement is pretty important, and this is really bad! There are a lot of roof lakes in the near future for this homeowner, and probably this neighborhood....

Terrible! I can say that honestly and unfortunately, I’ve had a few close ones where I’ve just dropped the next shingle a tiny bit. Never had a real shiner. THIS is horrible workmanship, feel bad for the homeowners.

Low bidder always gets the job in new construction. I agree a few shiners means they are trying to hit the common bond. That many is negligent.

There whole community used the same style rough, same color, same everything. Came back sealed those visible nails and moved on. Probably a common practice. Job done. To the amateur job done. To the picky inspector live with it. There not going to rip up that roof, and get a refund, unless there's a gaint hole with water flushing through it.

Seems like normal workmanship for contractors today. Unfortunately these days, nobody gives a damn about quality or takes any pride is their work. Pretty much why I spend $1000's in tools and 100's of hours researching then DIY.

Most these companies will land these big jobs and will bid low where there guys have to install at a fast rate to make up for the low bid, these typical roofs come with a 10 year workmanship warranty so when those exposed nails start leaking warranty would be already up and it’s time for these owners to get a new roof due to all the damage these shiners cost. I see it all the time. One thing we practice down here with our company is to do an inspection every 5 years to make sure nothings going south until our warranty is up, this is good for quality control.

That’s a great question because there is probably no legal recourse unfortunately that roof isn’t going to protect his house. It is sickening that many contractors just either don’t care about their workmanship or they don’t know what they are doing. Next new roof get someone that will do it right.
