I enjoy watching your videos! I've been roofing for 32 years! In my younger days did a lot of slate roofs and repairs and the old man that taught me tell me think like a drip kid think like water!I take pride in calling my self a skilled roofer!I piece worked roofs all over this great country of ours in my younger days I've seen a lot of people who had no right installing roofs!

If every roofer did their job right, you'd lose a lot of business. Job security 😎👍

On occasion I've seen water run down where galvanized pipe itself fits together right past any caulk, so I'll do a thin bead up that sometimes. Also if the inner lining is starting to corrode, the water vapor running through the pipe can condense and run back down, esp when it's cold and wet out.

I learn a lot from your videos helps me understand what kind of jenky stuff I see on roofs while I'm out there. Baffles me that the guys who do this kind of thing are the same guys that homeowners trust more than insurance. Talked to a roofer today that told me no Owens Corning dimensional shingles are repairable per building code and he couldn't repair 6 shingles on a 44sq roof that was less than 10 years old. All that had happened was some of the tabs had unsealed and they weren't affecting the water shedding ability they weren't even creased (yet). Some of the stuff I hear out there is insane and it's the same stuff that's told to home owner, dude would of been trying to sell retail if we didn't call him out Infront of the homeowner. Keep doing what you do 👌 I appreciate you educating people about their roofs and jenky roofers.

I sealed the bottom of my attic vents like that...oops the housing was cracking. I did leave the corner edges open though so water could find a way out.

Sadly, there is not a 100% correlation between what a customer pays and the quality of work received. Although we would like to believe that 100% correlation is true all of the time, many times it is simply the luck of the draw regarding which roofing crew is sent out. Every worker has their own standards and degree of conscientiousness. Some companies are just looking for the big fish they can pull the wool over. Very few customers mind paying a premium for a premium job, but nobody likes paying a premium price for a substandard job. It's very tough being a homeowner these days. Good luck.

There's a construction company in my area that have consistently used bad roofers for 30 years and are still going. I basically just follow these guys around a year later and fix everything. Dumb people gunna keep my kids working their entire lives too.

@grandroofing a request: parapet methods, on a short hip roof (not steep) with stucco parapet walls surrounding the perimeter. No urgency and general info, good examples or bad examples. 🏠

If done correctly, you can adapt single wall flue pipe to B vent without any risk of CO, even if the B vent is Sawzall'd , angle grinded or hacksawed to a specific length exposing both liners. EDIT......But only if one end of the B vent is cut, NOT BOTH ENDS!!!!

the comment about american workers, absolutely true, dont wanna work, I have customers that say no mexicans on my house, thats a red flag right there, so Im like go find an American roofing crew around here, Ive never seen one, I have a whole new respect for hispanics, I wished I wouldve took spanish in High school seriously too, my fav youtube channel

Comment.....One of the main problems is that you have a bunch people doing this job that can not speak English and have Zero training on what they are doing Plus is just seems that no one give a shiitt anymore. Make me want to just move into an apartment and not have to worry about who is fixing what and if it was done right or not.

That’s a case of the property management company called a handyman to fix it and that’s what they got… I see it all the time. Handymen doing these repairs and they have no idea. Sad.

The rain collar should've been much lower and sealed, why does people do things like this, especially the "roofers" should be fired
@helenhebert7127 Жыл бұрын
Not just a bad job of installing the sealant, but used silicone on top of it. Totally the wrong choice. It will never adhere to the shingles. It's OK for the metal to metal joints.

Americans dont want to get off the coach because roofing pays like 15 bucks an hour. Foreigners will do it but they also are also getting plenty of benefits from the govt. Maybe if foreigners werent driving down wages Americans would do it. DUH
