In 2014, Igbos to where inside Nigeria? Are Nigerians this primitive and backward in their social thought and minds? It's a dream. Let's say so. Or it's the media that has perhaps lost their essence. Vucious Western politics frightened and caused Southern Cameroun to vote to join Grench Camerun in the 60s. The violent, deadly perspnality politics in South of Nigeria caused so much apprehension across Africa and the World. But the Northern Nigeria would seamlessly merge with Northern Cameroun and till today no on reminds N.C. of being Camerounians of the 60s. Recently the bitter polirics led in the South by media, began to call Atiku, a Camerounian. What a shame and disgrace on Nigeria i.e Southern Nigeria. The North integrated well and it's a gr8 achievement and a testament to superior politics in the North to the ever divisive rancourous greedy Southern politics. Even d all the resources, even the South cannot make plans and progress their societies' fundamentals. Looking confused and helpless as ever. But how can such a gr8 people be bedeviled by leaders from hell who care not for the generality of the people?? Ruled by wasters and monkey minded cartels and con men. The idea that the properties being demolished are property on right of way isnt entirely true.. the destruction of the beach front property belonging to LandMark is an example. Also, most people whose property were demolished had their document approved by the state, so that begs the question, why did the gov office approve the documents if the lsnds are on right of way? And whose fault is this?. To make it worse, the take no account or responsibility for the failure emanating from their side. This does not fill investors with confidence, especially if you can destroy the asset of a multimillion dollar owner in the manner they did.
@johnoladele72594 күн бұрын
I have raised this question with the State government online, to date I haven't received a reply. I wonder why. Therefore, those whose properties in the concerned area were demolished and who have their documents from the state's land registry should get specialist land/property/lawyers to take up their case in court.

The growth of a property market is a function of population, existing infrastructure, the income level of the people there, and the government's development plan for the place. Properties are human business, and they are useless or less useful without people's patronage. It is also about the law of demand and supply. Lagos is populated with a growing level of infrastructure and there is a huge demand for properties. Hence, it is more profitable to invest in Lagos than in any place where the aforementioned factors are grossly lacking.

A property investor need to first understand the process and what might likely be the outcome of property investment. I engaged a lawyer for due diligence and he came back and convince me to buy it was eventually i found out the land was seriously emcumbered but Then i have bought already. Also what would you say about a land that was free of government encumberance during due diligence and after buying government acquired it. There is just many opaque activities witjin the government that hampers investment in lagos. Alot pf us are really regretting now.

If you think that any of the people on the panel has your best interest at heart... you are incredibly naive. The only thing they care about is your money.

Imagine buying a property in Lagos for 50m naira (£100k at £1 to 500naira) in 2015, that property is now worth 150m niara (£75k at £1 to 2000naira). So even though the headline price in naira went up 3 times in less than 10 years, the value dropped 25% due to Fx alone. The alternative investment had one put down £50k deposit (25%) on a £200k house in UK, in 2015, is that house is now worth £300K and my equity is about £100k. So the headline price only went up 25% but my investment doubled.

The video’s title is clearly a click-bait. In my opinion, properties in Lagos are prohibitively expensive and to make matters worse, the ‘due diligence’ required by consumers to ensure that they don’t get into soup in the long run can be tasking. Unfortunately the situation with last gubernatorial election in Lagos did not help matters. Deep seated corruption in Nigeria also makes things difficult but Nigeria has the market hence people are still willing do the work to invest in Lagos. Lagos is still the most prosperous state in Nigeria, one of the most prosperous in Africa, so people will always be attracted to Lagos. Igbos being targeted during demolition is clearly a conspiracy theory and not true. Please use your brain and logic when propagating tribalistic comments. Remember sentiments are travel far and quickly. Invest with due diligence.

Eden,are you aware that VOP staffs was arrested on August 1st because they talked about the true of what is going in your country ,they warned them and quickly released them before the news broke out. ?All of you would be shocked when the judgement come up on Nigeria government to leave Yoruba land. Yoruba has been a nation / Kingdom before Amalgamation and the indigenous people has the right to get their land back. No matter how.

I just canceled buying a property in Lagos. This Igbo must go thing will stop many of us in the diaspora. After buying Yerobas will ask you to leave Lagos as an Igbo person. Any Igbo man who buys a property in Lagos henceforth must have his head checked for sanity. These developers are only talking good to carry on with business. Lagos is a danger zone, Igbos stay away!

So there is no Igbo phobia in Nigeria? When you first dismiss the Nigeria Igbo problem especially with what happened in Lagos state during the last election, you make the people on the other side feel like you are not serious. Your analysis are good but I feel that investors need more education and protection from the government.

Why are they all saying Lagos is not safe for Igbos. Because someone built a house on government land and the house is demolished what does that have to do with all Igbos.
