This is hardly "tricks". A lot of this can be avoided with common sense. Buying used items in general are often like this. First of all if you're buying a car you can see in the vehicle ownership certificate the actual year the car is made. Secondly, 1 year is not even a big deal. I'd rather buy a car that is in good condition and 1 year older than a car that is in crap condition and poorly maintained but newer, moreover a car that's made in December 2012 is not that much older than one that's in January 2013. Really the only reason this would be important is if you're buying a car that's still under manufacturers warranty. Thirdly you can just call the dealer to take a photo of the VOC and send it to you if you're so obsessed with the actual year a car is made.
