The spare parts for this myvi are among the cheapest and easiest available in anywhere in Malaysia. RM10,000 is quite ok price for an almost 17 years old car. The seller should have given full tank of Petrol. They earned so much for that price

Good Luck I've been saying for years that travelling Malaysia and Thailand by car is a simple and cost effective holiday by comparison to the usual Grey Nomad route. I've subscribed and will watch your trip with interest. Take your time at the borders and make sure you get all the car stamps. It's not hard but unfortunately moving cars cross border is much harder than taking yourself. Good luck and enjoy the little roads as well as the big ones

welcome to 'King of the road' club....hahaha my family car since 2003 and still alive rocking on the road...im used went to Thailand flea market in Krongek,Sadao every Saturday or Thursday...from my home its just took 2hours...from the Malaysia border(Bukit Kayu Hitam,Kedah) maybe around 45minutes...but because of the bad currency, I had stopped going there...6 years ago we still in the same level.. now the rate is rm100 = 700-750baht... we lost rm30

If planning to fill to the brim of the car, please check the suspension and brakes for safety.Not to forget the tyres too . May see that have good thread, years not exceed 2 years. Here rain and sunshine are unpredictable

We had the suspension replaced, along with lots of other things, we also had all the tyres replaced with brand new ones because they were 5 years old. We had everything checked and it’s all good 👍

Instead of Rent a car, you bought one. Thats rare. But it really a good choice anyway! Thats cost saving alot. Perodua Myvi 1st gen is originally a Daihatsu Sirion / Boon or Toyota Passo. So the durabilty is undeniedable . Hence you wouldn't have a problem for the car parts at all even IF you using it to Thai and other SEA country.

Another Malaysian car that you could buy is the Proton Ssga. It has a booth. In my family we have owned 5 Proton Sagas, the latest and still being use is a Proton Saga FLX. My family have upgraded to newer Proton models such as Proton Preve sedan turbo (1), Exora Turbo mpv (1), Iriz hatchback (2) and X50 turbo suv (2). Non Malaysian cars include a mpv mitsubishi Xpender and a honda city sedan. Cheers

I'm subscribing! Malaysian cars are known for it's toughness and reliability considering the 'challenging' road conditions here. Be it Perodua or Proton, both excelled quite nicely in terms of longevity of use. Yeah it may break down sometimes, but nothing no sideroad's mechanic couln't fix.

Welcome to Malaysia, this is a good way to travel around Malaysia using the 1st gen Myvi. Here's a few checklist, that you need to add into your car. #1. Try get a good set of spot lights to install on the front, beside replacing the driving lights with better quality bulbs as some of the area at night aren't that bright in some of the outskirts rural area compare to the main town. #2. A set of toolbox and hand gloves, will come in handy especially when needed for qiuck repairs. #3. A good pair of working torch 🔦 to place in the car for standby #4 Try fix a lamp both in the car boot and inside the roof rack for easier locating item during in the night. #5. Do replace the brake fluid and brake pad for safety reasons even though they are working fine now.
