Prakrit languages formed through non-standard varieties of Sanskrit. The formation of Prakrits itself proves that Sanskrit was already a spoken language, since only a spoken language can under such modifications in sounds and structure over time. While the common speech drifted, the educated language for fixed. This gave rise to the period of time where the common folk spoke Prakrit while the educated spoke Sanskrit. But this was specific to a period in time, and not always the case. There is nothing inherent in Sanskrit that prevents it from being a conversational language.

I do not think he was endeavouring to play the role of a history professor. He made an overture-like discourse before letting Mrs. Jain make her extended point since she was the legitimate historian there.

Buddhism is the reason why India became fragile in front of invaders. Ahimsa dharma and philosphy. Our Hindu history was never fragile , look at any hindu king he was never fragile and ahimsak in front of invaders. Even budddhists changed their ideolgy and took tantricism as their philosophy which became Mahayana and Vajrayana.
