@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer Hi Chris, I’m shooting with the Sony A6000, Sony 50mm f1.8 and a Sigma 19mm f2.8. Would you recommend slightly underexposing with this kit too ? I do find that I cannot get nice colour skin with the way I currently shoot !! I shoot raw and edit in Lightroom but skin tones always seem too red ? Thanks Scott

Also on the a7riii, lately I've had the most success in manual with auto iso capped at 6400 and exposure compensation set to -2/3. Great videos man one of my favorite channels.

It's really frustrating for me. I have downloaded your images to practice and I only had to raise the exposure and the shadows a little to get a great result. As much as I practice, my photos don't appear raw like that. It is as if your photos would come out edited from the camera.

I have been shooting videos with GH5, but wanted to move over to stills, so I got myself a7iii. But i am still learning it. As of now I use aperture priority, meaning I get shutter - ISO - white balance on auto, but the images I get are sometimes all over the place, i mean - i probably should also learn more about the light. Should I go full manual ? Like i do with the GH5 for video ? Manual can give me more control over what I do, it would only need more twiggling on the scene.

Try turning on the zebras which will show you which parts of the frame are getting blown out. Then in aperture priority, you can adjust the exposure compensation dial until the zebras disappear before you take the picture. You can also set the sensitivity of the zebras, e.g. 95% or so. This way you will get fairly consistent results.

Do you ever use zebras so you know when your highlights are clipping? Then just back it off 1 or 2/3rds?

Totally depends on the situation really, ill under expose whatever I need to to make sure the highs arent clipping. But yeah you can go even further than -1 stop if you like.

What brightness setting do you have your monitor at when editing? Does this change based on where your image ends up, i.e., print, Instagram, etc? I feel like pumping it up all the way to 100% is not really representative of how it'll look for other people. But I don't really know... Great video by the way!

I just adjust depending on the ambient room brightness. Tough one but you get used to it
