As a young man hearing this kind of stuff and these conversations is absolutely essential because from my own experience we (as young men) don't have any idea what we're supposed to do with ourselves and our deep thoughts so big up to Brian for this podcast, was absolutely brilliant and exactly what is needed.

@@caprice5841 no still no difference, you’re saying you WANT women to be financially dependent on men, yes or no? You WANT the man to be the provider. Geordie I love you. I’m American woman. When I hear you talk it is so outdated in terms of women wear the pants man does this. Let’s just talk about how individual households want to have their house function. How will we pay bills, what is expected, etc. remember there was a time when there were no limits for men, in terms of pay, intimacy and many topics, now that women can have a voice it is let’s just build together what we want to see. Stop relying so heavily on some large standard of what “men” or things like that. Each couple needs to be adult and plan their lives and talk about what they want and how. It’s not rocket science I just do t but the bs about “ it’s all changing and what is my role” as opposed to what should we build together.

the phrase "Man up" isn't toxic or non-toxic in itself. It's the meaning behind it as it said to a man. I run in to this all the time because there is a difference between what one man thinks it mean to be a man. One man say man up and it means suck up the pain and emotion and do what you need to do regardless of these whole aspects of your life. Then you have the meaning I have. When I'm told to "man up", it means to have the strength to do what's right and good regardless of what a people think about it. Being a man means to protect and provide for those in your circle but it also means honoring your feelings and desires and those in your circle. It means having the courage to be yourself in the face of naysayers and the protection and encouragement of those in your circle to have this same courage.

Elise touched on something important in passing: the 'Masculine/Feminine energy' framework is completely made up. It can be a useful concept for discussion because most people will catch on to which personality traits you are talking about, but 'divine masculine/divine feminine' is a separation we've made up and perpetuated through belief. They're tags we've put on different personality traits and the different forms our egos take. I've found if you want to be the best man you can be, aka the best and only YOU, that you can be, take the whole 'male vs female' thing less seriously.

Your point around 51:00 …maybe that’s because of the lifestyle you and many “young impressionable men” choose? If men were raised to be like you described in your new enlightened view of relationships with women then maybe it wouldn’t have played a part in the reaction you are talking about from women. We make so many bullshit excuses for the toxic relationships between men and women but it all comes down to us as a society not valuing raising our children in the correct way. We don’t realise that our choices, no matter how small, have an effect on the young around us….the true way to redemption in all this is to live and value another as much as you value yourself, nothing more, nothing less.
