Geologist here: the dinosaur footprint is actually what we can refer to as a fossil cast. Meaning the dinosaur stepped in mud a long long time ago, the mud dried up, and as water and minerals flowed around and through the hardened footprint, if it’s not destroyed, minerals will form a hard shell. Most likely limestone which is very resilient to weathering and being destroyed by water and other natural disturbances. If a creekbed dries up you can find all kinds of shells, fossils, and even foot prints. This is how he discovered that native Americans lived in the US at the same time as mammoths and hunted them. Tracks left behind that fossilized.
@pattondurio Жыл бұрын
You would think though that more mud and other sediment would cover it. Like it would be there sure but its hard to believe it would still be at the surface, especially in a river where plants have lived and died for millions of years. It should be under a few feet if not meters of sediment one would think.

There's a saying with hunters: "If it climbs up a tree to eat you, it's a black bear." Also black bears are pretty skittish, if they attack it is out of predation and they are going to eat you. Don't play dead. If a grizzly/brown bear attacks you, play dead. They will attack out of perceived threat and want to neutralize the threat more than predation. Either way what those women did was so wrong and they are extremely lucky to be alive. NEVER go near a bear or let them think they should be comfortable around people.
@KandiStomper2 жыл бұрын
Also to add that the bear in the vid is basically full sized. I think leon gave an impression that it was a cub. It definitely wasnt. I hunt and have multiple bear hides/mounts and they dont get as big as say a grizzly or kodiak. So definitely dont approach one that size thinking its a cub/young, its full adult. 🙂
@KingBongHogger2 жыл бұрын
For context, they were walking down the trail and the bear just came out of the woods. They chose to freeze rather than run. If all 4 of them stomped and yelled it would scare it off.
@smnkm4ehfer Жыл бұрын
Black bears are about the least skittish in the world. Black bears have lost virtually all fear of humans since they have by far the most contact with humans/fed by humans/etc. Grizzlys/brown/kodiak bears are certainly the most dangerous and capable, but most often they'll avoid humans because they see us so much less and don't understand us, but if it's before a hibernation, they'll definitely take the opportunity to eat a soft meat sack aka humans.

13:00 - The disaster that wiped out the dinosaurs covered up the footprints, that were likely in a deep valley at the time, then over the millions of years, it was filled with water, which slowly wore the minerals covering the footprints down. That's why they're so smooth & undetailed. If the river hadn't dried up, the water would have eventually worn away the prints entirely...
@Sharauni2 жыл бұрын
FYI for the dinosaur footprints, since you didn't read the explanation lol, they are preserved in rivers by the sediment. The layer of sediment in them helps prevent the rushing water over them from eroding or disturbing them. The ones in the video have been cleaned/brushed out so that people can see them. Think of it as like having a tent around you on a windy day, you won't feel the wind since something is covering you.

As a Dutch person I can say that reverse bridge is real and we actually have a good amount of it. The water isn't that deep but deep enough for boats to go through ofc not big cargo boats. The way it build is just putting in a Dam "blockade in the water" and drain the water out of that area and build in the reverse bridge.
