Sam don’t feel bad about the fake wrist injury, this is quite common in elementary schoolers. My mom teaches second grade and recently had a student also with an alleged wrist injury, however her “wrist brace” was actually a Coors Light can coozie😂

3rd cousin is enough separation especially if they were separated enough to not know they were related, but that's only if both parties are aware and willing. A 3rd cousin is 1/8 and that's if this started with full siblings given that 1/2 siblings are a thing. The fact that they didn't know till recently means they were strangers as well, the only ikky thing to me in these cases is when they grew up together. I know the word cousin is what is ikky but I'm pretty sure if you have a partner with the same background you can 23 and me some genetic connection.

I meannn, as someone who looks definitely not Caucasian, but no one can tell what I actually am (at least most people at school) people assume that I'm like Puerto Rican, or whatever. After a certain amount of years, you don't tell them what you are until they ask, which can literally be years. Story- at my middle school we only had a few electives, and so you usually do both (other than music) each year. In 8th, you did robotics and Spanish. I was complaining about how I was going to suck at Spanish and my classmate who was listening asked me "wait, aren't you like hispanic? Like doesnt your family speak spanish" I'd been their classmate for three years....

whenever i was in kindergarten my sister told me i was adopted from china, me, since i was 6, believed my older sister. for some reason i also decided to tell my whole kindergarten class, and every one of them believed me, despite me being very so white. when i got to third grade i knew better obviously. i knew i was not chinese and i knew i had been lied to. but whenever a kid from my previous kindergarten class had brought it up, instead of telling the story and owning up to my lie, which i thought was a truth, i told everyone no no guys i am adopted from china, but my biological parents were americans that moved to china and put me up for adoption there. so i still was adopted from china. and so i fell deeper into the lie. now its a joke i bring up a lot around family and friends.
