@@justpassingby298 Most of the damage seems to just be cosmetic. Most of them turn on right away or just have something small not working like the PS2 disc drive, which are known to fail with even a little bit of dust or whatever on the laser. The thumbnails also always happen to have a lot of rust on the plastic. Plastic oxidizes, but it sure as hell doesn't rust in the process, or retrobrite would require mechanical action through vinegar and not chemical action through hydrogen peroxide and heat.

I don't know which the most hilarious dead giveaway aside from all the others you mentioned, the fact that hole managed to completely miss the ribbon cable right by it, almost as if someone carefully took it away before carving out that hole, or how they just find a 3DS XL in a mound of trash and it still has the stylus, even the brushstroke "mud" or whatever crap they put on is more believable than the stylus still being there lol

I don’t buy the “they’re poor so scams are fine” mentality. If they wanna say it’s purely for entertainment or something fine, but clearly they’re not so poor that they can’t afford all the tools, cameras, devices, etc it would take to *actually* restore something, even if it wasn’t back to pristine quality. But then it wouldn’t be quite so viral. It’s obvious why they do it. But the soft bigotry of low expectations towards poor people is still bigotry.
@SianaGearz2 жыл бұрын
The main difficulty in restoring something is the time expense and the skill, like you can damage and ruin a lot of things inadvertently when repairing, i think it took me a while until i got good at it; you can see that they can't even bloody hold the tweezers correctly, they have literally no idea how not to rip a flex, or how to handle screws so you don't crossthread them. Then again if they ask around they'd find a neighbour who maybe knows their way around things? Maybe? Or maybe everyone who has that sort of skill has made it off from these sorts of places and has a better job? In a low wage society, actually being able to repair stuff is a substantially more valuable skill than on our bits of the planet. Just recently i murdered a Discman clone while trying to reverse engineer its headphone amp circuit. Whoopsie. Though it wasn't any good or valuable anyway, so well.
@heyspookyboogie6442 жыл бұрын
@@SianaGearz not only would it be a more valuable skill in their area, but I’m sure if they were actually putting any effort into it, they could do a lot better even at their current skill level. It looks atrocious because they don’t care to actually repair it. They want to put out as many videos as quickly and easily as they can to capitalize on viral trends.

The way they take out the parts looks about what it would look like if a child took apart and inspected a broken console to see what the insides look like, with no intentions of repairing it ever again (yk, a "it's broken anyways, might as well see what the electronics look like" kinda thing)

I think you should make a video telling how the fake restoration videos work. Show how they put the big hole in the console and how the painted on dirt and the destroyed screen happened. A possibility of the screen being in the condition it is in probably happened by repeatedly stabbing it hard with a screwdriver, since there was a dent in the back metal panel that is sticking out.

I imagine actually restoring the things in those video to be so stressful, especially other things. Theres machines to use and spare parts to find and to buy and it probably costs way less to just buy the item new. Even if the stuff gets sold afterwards, if its not a very rare item theres probably not nearly enough paid to cover all the work put in. But it still looks satisfying.
