What I find gross is how in the tiktok, she can laugh at Moses as he puts his fingers down for every horrible, abusive, and toxic thing she's done to him, but the SECOND she's able to put her finger down for something, it's like she holds all this power. Now she's all "SEE??? I'M A VICTIM TOO!!! SEE??? TOLD YOU THIS HAPPENS TO ME!!" and that's super manipulative. Waiting for your chance to strike and then making it seem like it's worse, or worse, like it somehow justifies what you've done to the other person. Her 1 finger vs his 8 fingers down she thinks that her SINGLE one holds some kind of significant weight to validate her behavior.

This is on my mind now so sorry if it gets said later, but I need to talk about that “toxic relationship” TikTok. I’m so worried about people bc of this platform. There’s a constant romanticizing and fetishizing of really serious problems, and this is one of them. Those “put a finger down if” that Trisha’s partner was responding to? Those are domestic violence. That is the shit that gets you numb going “oh that’s just x” so when they start getting even more controlling and start physically abusing, the victim has normalized it in their head. This is not cute, this is not a “fun couples thing.” This is really dangerous behavior and if you found yourself listening and realizing that your partner does this to you (or that you do this to your partner) please seek help immediately. There are tons of resources from national hotlines to local services and shelters. It’s never too late to get help.

I’m really hoping that the kids on tiktok have more sense than that. I mean, kids in the US are seeing so much more violence recently up close. But, that doesn’t mean that most will go out of their way to hurt people. Yes, they develop a sort of tolerance for violence due to exposure. But, most people inherently believe that it’s wrong. Hoping it’s the same for the impressionable people on tiktok. It most likely is. Also, thanks for naming places to get help! I’m a victim of abuse from a partner and his father and stayed for almost 5 years, and people need to know that there is help out there. :)

I have BPD and I've been in therapy for a year and a half and some change. There. Is. No. Excuse. For. Bad. Behavior. Period. Yes, it was the BPD, but you still did the thing. So recognize it, own up, and apologize. It's that easy. And the only time I've ever hit my husband was when my doctor gave me new meds (with one the of side effects being wanting to unalive and he still gave it to me 🙄) and I had what I needed to do (no, I won't tell you the plan. You don't want to know) and my husband was trying to stop me. I punched his chest, and he got me in a bear hug and held on as I fought and screamed at him that I HAD to do it, and when I wore myself out, he put me to bed and stroked my hair while I cried. The doctor got a very colorfully worded call the next day. But that's still not okay. I had no control over myself. I was truly insane during the hours it took. But that's still not okay, and I apologize to him, and he said it was fine, just so long as I don't take another. I said never again. I don't understand why Trisha would side with Amber just because of the mental illness. NO. It's already bad, WE DON'T NEED MORE STIGMA. A personality disorder is a disorder that's literally in the name. It's like this: It's Halloween, and you go to a themed party. Let's say Roman era themed just for funsies. Men and women in robes, some wearing armor, and so on. Now, you know most of these people, they're your friends, and wearing a toga or Roman armor hasn't changed their individuality; of course not, that'd be ridiculous. It's the same with a personality disorder, except NO ONE wants to be here. Regardless of what three letter diagnosis they have, it's a themed party. They're all wearing the themed costumes, but in doing so, they too still have their individuality. Because it's severely personal. You may have a bad run in with someone with BPD, and left you traumatized. But that was them. They have their own problems and are probably refusing treatment. That doesn't mean the next person with BPD will act like them or treat you the way they did. We're still actual people under those words. I'm gonna stop ranting. 😅😂

Especially that there are meds that can help manage your symptoms and therapy that can put you into remision. Period. I have a bunch of relational trauma. I have been abused and that caused me, in later relationships, to behave in a way that sometimes was abusive. But I'm no longer like that. As a teenager, I had an abusive partner who would manipulate me and destroy my self esteem. He would constantly comment how I wasn't pretty enough and compare me to others. He would suggest that I dye my hair, change the way I dress, do plastic surgery etc. He would also be super shady and disappear on me, not answering for a few days, and would openly flirt with other people. He would also be very impulsive, aggressive and reckless with alcohol, and would get himself into very dangerous situations. I was constantly worried about his safety. He also did some other things to me that I don't want to even mention here. This relationship left me with so much insecurity and mistrust. When I started dating my now-partner, I was honestly shitty. I was very jealous, didn't trust him, I would constantly ask who he was talking to, I would read through who he followed on social media. I would even get triggered when he commented positively (even when respectfully) on a celebrity's appearance. I still felt I was not good enough, that someone would try to take him away from me. We got into arguments. Then I decided that I really want to make the relationship work, and that meant I had to work on my issues. I started introspecting and connecting dots about my childhood and past relationship, and reading up on C-PTSD. This gave me tools to survive. I would still get triggered, but now I could separate that reaction from who I was as a person and what I actually believed to be true. I would explain my feelings to my partner every time it happened. I would say something like "I'm going through this trauma reaction now, that's why I'm upset. It's not your fault, you didn't do anything wrong, it's just something that happened before that causes me to react when I'm reminded of it. I know that you are a good person and I love you". He would then reassure me, hold me, and then slowly, it started getting better. I would get less reactive, and I would, even when triggered, stay in a more calm state and internally evaluate the feeling I had, whether to trust it or not. When I slipped up, I would always apologize and work to genuinely make amends and learn. Nowadays, I don't really experience that pathological jealousy anymore. I actually trust my partner. My partner offering me a stable environment for this emotional work was invaluable, I could not have done it in a volatile relationship. Discovering feminism also helped, as I started to empathize with women and I would no longer see them negatively, as a threat or my competitors. This helped so much. I no longer strive for male-defined perfection in my looks in an effort to stop people from leaving me. I dress to express myself. I feel free. I trust that my partner is with me because he loves me, for all that I am. Even if we break up someday, I will survive and someday I might find someone else, or I will learn to be happy alone. I guess my point is just that yes, people can absolutely change, but it needs serious work. And that work has to come from the person themselves and it needs to be a continuous effort and lifelong commitment to do better.

yes! as a fan of true crime, i hear a lot of people say “oh well they had these disorders so it’s not their fault” or “they were abused in the past so it’s not their fault they’re a serial killer.” the thing is, while these horrible things aren’t your fault, you are still responsible for your actions. plenty of people are mentally ill and have been abused but don’t turn out to be the worst possible kind of person.
@katarzynarymszo929 Жыл бұрын
Yep. It is an explanation of behaviours but the decision to continue in toxic cycle depends on the person. Of course Mania/hypomania, BPD, NPD etc untreated can cause harm but that doesn't Mean person Has to be patrionize. People without the Mental Health issues also can be violent or abusive. That is sad truth. And not everybody with mental illness will be harmful

When she says "yeah" at 18:35 she's acting like what she did was so cute and adorable! That was a completely nauseating moment from an absolute devil of a person. I find it so incredible offensive when people excuse their behavior because of their metal illnesses. I suffer from multiple mental illnesses and I would NEVER in a million years abuse my partner or anyone else in my life. It just makes me want to cry when I hear those reasons. Finally, my god, I'm sure it was so scary being the abuser. It must have been the scariest thing that has ever happened to her. I'm sure she was so much more scared than the person she was abusing.
@letterborneVods2 жыл бұрын
As someone with illnesses as well I believe they can, by themselves, be the reason why one might lash out or be very irritable. I’m often this way and can be quite bitchy. But for everything beyond that, imo the person needs something I call the ‘a-hole gene’ in order to ever act like that. Mental distress might make you upset or frightened, but maliciously hurting other people to that extend? No. You just must be an a-hole. (I use that word to keep it light btw, abusers are definitely a lot more than that.)
@ghost-husband2 жыл бұрын
I do get it to some extent since having mental illnesses sometimes makes you hurt people around you without meaning to but obviously abuse is a completely different thing. We saw it happen with Trump, but for some reason, when a public figure admits to heinous actions in a casual manner, people just take the information casually. As someone who's son attempted to unlife himself due to DV I want people to know how serious this situation is for men. When we went looking for help for my son we discovered that there was 3 options for men for an ENTIRE state while there for 8 options in one town for women, We need to encourage, support and believe men when they come forward and not make them feel weak or 'less of a man' for doing so. At least when a women is being abused she can fight back, men are simply not allowed to. I'm saying this as someone who was beaten by a man so badly that I was blind for 3 weeks & was left with a broken jaw.

@theMoporter2 жыл бұрын
There's not really an "at least" here. If you get police coming out who are abusers themselves, they always side with the abusers, and there's upwards of 40% chance that will happen. All those women's shelters are a way to support women victims when the police are far more likely than not to ignore or abuse them themselves. The fact that these shelters are often full is a damning indictment of how women victims are treated. However, that's no excuse for the shockingly low availability of unisex and men's shelters. Police are only slightly less likely to discriminate against them, and even less likely if they're not white or straight or abled. Male victims are so often weaponised by misogynists that they end up getting tarred with the same label. I can't imagine how awful it must be to come forward about abuse as a man and see thousands of hate-filled bigots use that as an excuse to dismiss or attack other survivors just because they're women. Only being believed when it's convenient for horrible people. That in turn is used by ignorant assholes to equate protecting victimised men with bigotry. It's an awful situation for absolutely everyone and it only hurts survivors the most.

@@theMoporter I, in parts, agree with you but as someone who has experienced it from both sides I can only speak from my experience. When I was abused the police instantly arrested my male abuser. with only my injuries as evidence as at the time I could not speak Yet when my sons abuser beat his face in, stabbed him and left more than enough psychical evidence but HE was questioned first and asked if he had put his hands on her and even had an officer say to him ' Well why would she hit you first when you're bigger than her' She breeched the DV order 18 times and he was told by police that she's not a threat to you, she's half your size and female'' EXACT WORDS SAID! She showed up at his work and attacked him in front on an entire bar and the police told him to simply ignore you. 'She's smaller than you' If a man had done the same he would have been arrested, there is no doubting that. It has now been 6 years since this has happened and she was charged two years after the incidents and that only happened because we paid for a lawyer to get involved. There is so much evidence, including her telling an officer to his face that she will do it again and there is nothing they can do about it, letters, phone calls, video evidence that is clear and has her stating her name and yet STILL there was no action by the police until my son involved a lawyer.

And then I watched it again after the Mysterious docuseries came out about Trisha and I recognized it for the abuse that it was. I'm much older than David. Trisha only requests empathy for Amber because she sympathizes with what it means to be an abuser. You can't abuse and be sound. As a speculator who indulges in the medical research regarding Psychology, it seems abusive behavior has been normalized in Trisha's life whether that be on her own accord or through learned behaviors. She essentially does not talk about family and so it is easy for one to ponder their contributions to her process because the only others who have been pointed to for this development would be regarding all those involved in the Dobrik times. Her position is that AH is untreated and therefore lacks the need to be accountable for her actions because others did not take responsibility in treating her regardless of the fact that obviously AH rejects professional diagnosis if it does not comfort her even if she scores severe scores for things such as Histrionics or Borderline. This line of thought is not black and white but at the end of the day AH is unwell and simultaneously IS responsible for her own actions albeit the justification and/or excuse and same goes for Trisha. In summary, yes, if either Trisha or Amber had sought diagnosis and had been treated appropriately there is a possibility that neither of them would have committed physical assaults, but that does NOT mean anyone else is to take the blame other than themselves. Psychology is dense and complex but the lay man should not be expected to psychically know these things off the bat to communicate with either of them. In conclusion, you cannot help those that do not want to be helped. Denial is powerful.

I honestly get that and I hope that at least he got away from her completely because I'd be worried for his mental health if he's still involved with her in any sense. It is horrible though that people like her get away with emotionally abusing someone like that and then the victim just has to sit there and try to move past all the damage the abuser caused. It breaks my heart to know that abusers like her get away with their shit. I hope something will be done about her. Someone on r/trishyland made the comment that Trisha thinks she’s changed because she’s being confronted on a regular basis by people who challenge her and I think that’s true. Trisha couldn’t handle Frenemies because Ethan is in charge of H3 and Hila is a very successful, secure woman with a husband that loves her, and that made Trisha very insecure. She was constantly needling Ethan about his marriage and having kids because marriage and family are the two things she wanted. As a result, Trisha frequently made hurtful, petty things to Ethan on the podcast to make herself feel better. Now that Trisha’s married and pregnant, she’s happy because she’s always wanted to be a wife and mother. Being home all the time with no one to “compete” with (Trisha is always in competition with other women), Trisha believes her life is great. Unfortunately Trisha doesn’t realize that her real personality still shines through every time her fans ask her a question about her pregnancy she doesn’t want to answer. Trisha getting upset that fans were asking about her glucose test on her live chat is classic Trisha because whenever she’s asked to talk about something specific, her first response is to get upset and claim everyone is hating on her.

We're very happy together and away from that. I think Moses struggles to be able to ask for help when he needs it - or his father just was that strict with him in which he can brush it off.
