Just glorious. I'm not a great knitter (though I've been knitting for decades.) but that first cardigan, Balmy, is wonderful. Definitely a Christmas gift for myself. I've made at least 4 cardigans over the years,usually crochet because I feel more competent as a crocheter. I'm in my 70s and still learning and improving in my handwork, there is always more to learn. I'm going through a rough time, physically, right now, and handwork gives me pleasure, something challenging and enjoyable.

Such an elegantly simple pattern, perfect for showcasing those beautiful colors. Including the variegated between the tonals is eyecatching. My go-to daily cardi is over 10 years old now, and in need of replacement - or lots of repairs. I can never quite seem to part with it. I have a chunky weight cardi on the needles, but I want a lighter weight one too.

I have not knit a cardigan, made one in crochet. I have always wanted to knit one, but I always chicken out. These are all so beautiful. I want to make them all. I don't know if I can because I always have a hard time with gauge, that is when I chicken out. I love how you combine the colors and make the fades look so effortless. OMG - you had me at BALMY, the pattern is downloaded and ready to go! I am a prolific knitter of socks, sweaters, shawls and cardigans too. Nothing better than putting on a cosy sweater that I've knit myself and yes, being able to say "I knit it myself" is such a great feeling. I have crocheted a few cardigans and have knitted several pull overs. I love long sweaters. One that goes past my bottom. This is way I love knitting and crocheting. I can always add extra length if I want to. Plus I can find the perfect color and what type of yarn I want to use (with a few exceptions).

I really like Balmy!! It seems like a possibility even with the kiddos! I have actually made a cardigan (pre kiddos)!! More in the bolero style and I absolutely loved making it!! Yes, I have knit many cardigans; for myself as a teenager and young adult, then many more for grandchildren and the babies & children of various acquaintances. My 2 favorite designs, among those featured in the video are Sweetgum, with the delicate buttonband detailing and marled/fade fabric and Malvarosa, (the exceptional pullover style in this curated selection), with its delicate floral embroidery at the yoke.

I've made many, many cardigans ever since I've learned to knit and crochet at 7 years old. The one I'm most proud of is a knitted lacy top and cardigan set I made for my Mom with a beautiful soft white yarn I bought in Vienna Austria when I was there a thousand years ago. My Mom has passed away 5 years ago and that set probably ended up with one of my cousins. I don't know because I don't live in Europe any more. I have never made a cardigan. As far as wearables, I have made slippers(crochet), shawls(knit), and scarfs. I also knit my son a large fuzzy blanket with cables running across it. If I were to do one of these, it would probably be Rubato. The cables are incredible and I love lightweight yarns!
