I've had one about 4 months now (preordered when it was a concept in 2019). Super expressive and lovely thing.. it feels like how keybeds should always have been. I bought a Touché too right after 😂

For me, these MPE keyboards are still quite gimmicky and I think you really have to search hard to generate value that you can’t already get out of a traditional synth with pitch/mod wheels. I bought a ROLI Seaboard, a similar instrument to this one, and just couldn’t get into it, and am selling it now. Granted, I’m not a virtuoso keyboardist which is really the only market I think these benefit in their current form. But again, those folks could make anything sound great so I’m not sure it’s a need for even that customer base. For the pop producers I’ve seen using these (i.e. Finneas), again they’re just gimmicks as nothing they’re using the device for is novel, at least that I’ve seen. I’m excited for where these devices will go in the coming years but for now, kind of a waste of money for what you’re getting. But hopefully the people buying them now are funding the future development of next gen MPE instruments that could be transformative.

Really no comparison between the Roli and the Osmose. And yes, you probably will want to practice your scales to fully utilze the extreme capabilities of the Osmose. 5 minutes out of the box tells the whole story of what the potential is of this monster of an instrument.
