Nice demo! With the Sailor Fude nib pen the best way to get very thin lines is use the nib upside down, it is designed to work that way. and The Carbon Ink is one of the best!

Lovely video and I've ordered your book, Ohn Mar. Very excited. I may also cave on this pen having held back for some time on new pen orders. Thank you for your generous sharing.

I’ve been using Amsterdam Acrylic ink in my fountain pens. It certainly wouldn’t have occured to me, but it says on their website that you can. I have oxide black and burnt umber in some inexpensive chinese made dropper fountain pens. I fill the pen, then dump the ink back into the bottle then refill the pen with distilled water. That gives me a dilution that flows through the pen and hasn’t clogged them up so far.

Thats really interesting to know

I don't know the brand so that may be safe, but in general, acrylic inks will damage or destroy fountain pens. Just adding this for any new users of FPs (I have collected and used them for 50 yrs)-if you choose to do this, you should probably only use it with inexpensive pens, and clean them out after using it.

As always, I just love to watch you paint and ink. I'm thoroughly enjoying your skillshare classes -- highly recommend! I would love to see you paint marigolds. I have a lot of them in my yard just now. Very fall-esque!

Enjoyed this very much. It was hard to see how the stems would unfold with all the yellow, but they came together once the ink was added. Lovely!

Hiya ~ from memory Ohn Mar used her favourite Opera Rose pink & in the larger flower toned the pink down with a bit of Potter’s Pink; stems were mainly Green Gold & some yellow & a bit of Perelyne Green for darker shadow area… hope this helps!?

Beautiful relaxing video. Thank you for sharing. I tend to draw with ink first and then fill in color. I think your method gives a more relaxed, energetic feel. Definitely will try this method.

I should do a video where I draw with ink first and see how it compares - thanks for sharing that

In an art class at a local college they showed us both ways. I def prefer paint followed by ink. I get too caught up in detail otherwise

Thank you Ohn Mar. I purchased a Sailor Fude pen after taking an online sketch class during Covid. The artist sketched with the pen upside down to use the tip to vary the width of the line. She also recommended brown document ink. I will have to figure out where I put those. I just bought your book and can't wait until it arrives.

Great video. I'd love to see you do Poppies. If your looking for a good waterproof brown fountain pen ink, try DeAtramentis Document ink in Urban Sienna (they also have just a plain brown).

Love, Love, Love this style and technique. On the Fude nib, a teacher recommended to turn the pen upside down, the feed is away from you and the bent/tip area performs thin lines... I need to get those pinks, they are gorgeous and not in my pallet. Thanks for sharing your talent!

Thx Ohn Mar so much for sharing your technique in real time from beginning to end - it helped get a better understanding of how you accomplish such a beautiful loose floral finish! I would love to see you do this again with any other florals (& berries) you choose… 🩷🌷💛🪻💚🌸 I’ve also got a fude fountain pen with black ink after seeing so many artist using it with gorgeous outcomes, however whenever I’ve used it ~ I find the thick black lines a bit too overpowering!!😬😖 Perhaps using a De Atramentis brown or sepia brown ink might help with this, as well as using the fude nib upside down for thinner lines!? I’ve got to try n play with it again… It amazes me how you use just a few ‘squiggly’ ink lines to ‘suggest’ overall shape ~ something else I must do is use your same restraint to say more with less!! 😃🙏🏻💚
