The additional parameters of the RD-9 give it some serious appeal. Whenever I work with 909 kicks, I typically use samples so that I can tune it to the track. RD-9 gets over this with the added tune parameter, beyond the 909/09’s standard pitch envelope. Thanks for your recent rd-9 videos!

Seems like the TR-09 has a lot more low end. I think on the individual out the RD-09 has more low end too, bypassing the compressor.
@chesterpoobum2 жыл бұрын
Both machines will give you great results, but the TR-09 surprisingly has that 909 beefy low end. 909's have a dark sound to them when they are unprocessed. The snare is waayyyyy closer to the real deal, on the TR-09. Toms and kick are warmer and punchier. Basically, TR-09 is closer to the 909, if that is what you are looking for. On the other hand, I feel like the RD-8 MKII blows away the TR-08. I owned a real 808 for 10 years. I'm really impressed how close the RD-8 MKII is!!. I see a RD-9 MKII in 2 years.

That said... Eventually, I will need need a performance Drum Machine. I've considered the RD9 for its 909 size and slight extras...but...the TR-09 is very attractive for the 90s WORK FLOW. Smh. I understand Behringers CLONE WAR. And since the TR-09 is discontinued and price gouged, and the RD9 is delayed til August, Im gonna TRY to wait it out bfo buying a TR-09 on Reverb for a Higher Price....or Behringer creates a RD9 MKII. This Clone WAR Sucks 🤮 And NO. I don't like the TR8S. I know it has the 606,707,808,909 and Sampler, but like i said... ITS ALL ABOUT THE NOSTALGIC WORK FLOW ,FOR ME.

I was doing a comparison between my RD-9 and my TR-8S with a full loop and I found that the volumes on the RD-9 were a bit weird. The snare was too loud and the rim shot too silent. So In a live situation I would not be able to just open up the volume of the snare. On the TR-8S this is a non issue because you can configure the gain levels per instrument and make it so that 100% volume is at a level that sounds good. With the RD-9 you would have to remember that you never put the snare beyond 60% volume. This was my biggest complaint about the RD-9
@exsiderurgica2 жыл бұрын
Yes this could be an issue but i think could be solved with a trimmer between circuits or processing individual outputs on external dedicated sub mixer. Anyway need to remember that RD-9 is hybrid analog like the original 909 instead of tr8s that is digital and sample based.
