Scissor extensions are so cool. They have a compact feeling that's hard to replicate with other sliding mechanisms.

I watched this video because I was interested in the scissor lamp build. It’s a very clever and wonderful project. But what is even better is the craftsmanship and over-the-top-quality of the video production. Fantastic video!

I wish KZbin would allow KZbinrs to set their ads to silent... Had this turned up to listen to the soothing workshop sounds and OH MAN
@tovsteh5 жыл бұрын
As intrusive as ads are, the whole point of ads is to get your attention, if even just for a second. Google is an ad company. It would be highly counter-productive for them to add a function that automatically mutes their sponsors ads.
@Thornspyre5 жыл бұрын
Of course you can just block the ads withAdBlock or Ghostly or other adblockers People say you shouldnt do this because it eats into the YTers potential profits, but actually it just eats into their sponsors profits, it hurts the big man not the little man, and since its the big man thats annoying me, and the little man thats pleasing me, im totally fine with that

Now I know how it is done ... I just need all the machinery. As a joke, I watched the whole video because something that seemed simple to do, was more complicated for it to work as it should. Ingenious, with details and made with wood and water pipes. I also always enjoy observing each one's ability in his trade. Good job.

There are not many projects I see that impress me as much as this one does. Something that is needed in the shop and very unique. I'm sure you will eventually add a bracket for your camera as well. Just a thought. Great job.

Nice work, beautiful lamp, but in the joint system on the tube I would put the locking clamp on a free ring in the middle of the joints, in this way you can fix the height without blocking the right-left movement

I made one of these from two old expanding coat racks someone threw out and some odds and ends laying around the shop. I still use it over my lathe. To be honest though, mine might be cheaper (although just as functional) yours is much more aesthetically pleasing

Neat-looking lighting. A handle to move it around would have been an improvement. The wiring looks messy (should be more concealed if possible). Having said that, the wall mount pipe bracket is very cool. Classic industrial look. Thanks for sharing.

Prolly wanna add a brass or plastic sleeve around the front support's bolt, so its threads don't chew up the wood slot over time. Might also add a little smoothness to the extension travel?

I LOVED the cinematography in this video! The only critic I have is that you sometimes keep still images for about a second too long (in my opinion), like finished parts or after the pipe finished rolling onto the screen. Besides that, AWESOME video and AMAZING result!

that came out great, but you’re going to have to modify it just a little because you can’t turn that assembly without loosing that hand nut. put that metal collar and hand nut and locate it underneath so the base can swivel on the pipe but it’s testing on the metal collar so it can swivel left and right.

Если поставить шайбу с стопорным винтом на трубу снизу, чтобы она отдельно висела на трубе и вся эта конструкция свободно лежала на ней, то можно будет вращать всю конструкцию по горизонтали без необходимости ослаблять барашек

OK guys. Challenge. Take this simple design, eloquent execution and trick it out with a platform at the lamp head end to mount other attachments. As with the power loops extended component add other functional capability extensions top and bottom. Don't forget extra long bolts, eye bolts/hooks to also hang things from. Inlayed disk magnets to hang drawings on............. Pretty it up with copper, brass, acorn nuts, fender washers , springs etc. Pretty scrap-bin projects.
@Itslvle5 жыл бұрын
8:24 I felt really uncomfortable watching you hold such a small piece by hand when using that large of a forstner bit :D. It helps if you go slow sure, but still a bit of a gamble. Not that it's really that dangerous if it catches, but not exactly fun either (especially if it ruins your work piece or rather makes it look ugly). *edit* Really cool. I hadn't thought of using a scissor lamp as opposed to a movable desk lamp -type solution. Gives a much better travel in a workshop environment while tucking away so much more compactly. Just a thought, if you want to be able to move the lamp radially without always opening the nut, you could make some grooves on the pipe with an angle grinder or a file. Just spin the pipe with a lathe or even a handheld drill (needs an intermediate piece to connect the two) to make the grooves more easily and get a cleaner look. Or just skip all the setup time and use a bench grinder. Then just round over (or form however depending on your groove geometry) the end of your locking bolt so it mates up with the grooves more nicely. Or maybe even make a spring-held pin that you can just pull outwards and let it snap into place on a groove when you release it.
