LOL Chapman might have been a brave man, but do you think this Afgahn expedition "gave us our freedoms"? You must really think we are all as stupid as these right-wing conservatives who do believe such "patriotic" militaristic propaganda. A bunch of illiterate goatherders in Afghanistan with AK-47s did not and could not fly planes into the Twin Towers. The hi-jackers were mostly from Saudi, tech-educated, english-speaking and financed from abroad, but since Republicans take massive donations from these, no action was taken on that front. It would have made no difference to our rights and freedoms if the army had not sent soldiers into this battle on Takur Ghar and thereafter, soldiers who had no idea what they were doing, or why, they just follow orders, pointless or not. The soldiers who died in this video died in vain, well not entirely, they died so that GOP Republicans could pick up the "nation building" contracts for their corporate pals, so that's a win!

John: I wish to write a piece for this man whom I will refer to as Hero!! deserving of the title as he gave everything to save fellow Americans on that mountain. His wife understands why he did what he did, his daughters know their father is a special man, one whom sacrificed himself for others. No greater cause than to give your life for another. This Hero is deserving of the Congressional Medal of Honor by far, this nation owes a debt we can never repay. This selflessness at it's best. John I am brother to you, having served in the Air Force but at an earlier time, I did not die in my service as it was peacetime, we were under a different threat, not bullets but ICBM's during the cold war. I can not nor will I try to place myself at the same level you were at John. I am grateful that you chose to put on the chevrons of the Air Force, but more grateful you decided to place yourself in harms way and give your life for what we call freedom. Freedom is never free John, and now we must go on knowing you loved your fellow man so much you would die for them. I can't wait to see you in heaven Sir!!! Normal those of us that served as Non-Commissioned Officers did not like people calling us Sir, however it is my privilege and honor to call you Sir!! Rest in Peace my brother!!

They may have downvoted because while John Chapman's efforts were heroic and deserve the HIGHEST praise ... those others who turned tail and ran, leaving him to fight alone deserve serious reprimand or at least the shame of being mentioned publicly for abandoning their brother. I believe John Chapman died unnecessarily because he was disregarded by him SEAL "teammates". I find it interesting the it tends to be the ONLY people to praise or talk about John Chapman are Air Force service members. I haven't seen a video yet (not saying one does not exist) where THE SEALs who survived this ordeal (which apparently was all but one ... and he apparently was dead before they even got back to the mountain after also abandoning him). Cowardly actions by those SEALs who left John to fight alone on a hill they ran from.

His rank is technical sergeant, but posthumously promoted to Master Sergeant. That's a rank. He job is a combat controller. He is both, so calling him an Air Force sergeant is not wrong cuz he is a sergeant in the Air Force. If they want to call him a combat controller, it's not wrong too cuz he is a combat controller. because the second bunker had many more people in it than the first one that Chapman took out. The team approached bunker 1 and it took heavy fire as well as grenades. Another SEAL member was injured by a grenade and slid 10 ft down a rock to the leader which is when they decided they needed to retreat and come back with more people. As they retreated, later it was revealed that Chapman wasn't dead like they thought, after being incapacitated Chapman took on another foe in hand to hand combat despite his injuries then proceeded to fire at the enemy to get the off the helicopter, the helicopter was hit by an RPG but crash landed safely and that's when Chapman got hit in the heart. Team left him behind because under those circumstances it was almost guaranteed that he was dead considering they were taking fire and another member just got hit by a grenade

@dallasyap30644 жыл бұрын
Blamed NSWC, don't blame those SEALs cuz if u were in their shoes. U would understand them too. Already 2 team mate down, they assumed Chapman was dead too. So in their position, especially the team leader he saw that not worth getting more or all team members killed just to save 2 dead bodies (they assumed Chapman was dead bcoz he was struck 2x, one of them or both of them were mortal) so instead they will probably get their bodies next time, but not he needs to ensure thr survival of his remaining men. So they retreated. Just like battle of Mogadishu, the convoy eventually went back to base cuz too many severe casualties and few killed, their vehicles barely running and a lot of bullet holes so they have to get back to base first, regroup, rearmed and go back out. That battle is the fierciest firefight for the US military since the Vietnam War. So imagine u sitting in one of the humvees, already severely wounded, driving here and there and militias are everywhere, front, back, left, right, on rooftops etc all shooting heavy and light rounds at u. So I understand the Navy SEALs position that they thought Chapman was dead and have to retreat.

USAF CCT TACP... something DoD considers the toughest, nor will you hear about much.
@dallasyap30644 жыл бұрын
They are not really meant for that tough nut type of mission. They are actually meant to be more of a support roles. PJs and CCTs are more like support roles attached to other spec ops units like Green Berets, other JSOC units to provide them with air support communication, air traffic communication, all sorts of communications as well as medical treatment and evacuation. They don't really operate as 1 full team all filled with CCTs or PJs. But I will admit that their pipeline has a very high dropout rate. But despite that, they are more like support roles for other spec ops who really get the job done. But still I don't think any less of these Air Force spec ops, they are still crucial although as support roles.

(expletive deleted)... FWIW; it's not the patch that makes the man..it's what he does with it.
@dallasyap30644 жыл бұрын
@@johnhopkins6260 alright u probably didn't get the message. I didn't say they are not tough nuts. They are still tough but their primary role is more of like a support role. PJs primary role is to provide medical treatment to spec ops soldiers as well as to other civilian casualties from combat fire. CCTs primary role is to provide communication for combat air support, close air support and all types of air ground communications in any environment for spec ops. These guys don't operate as a 1 whole unit of themselves, they are attached to other spec ops units. While they conduct their primary roles, they are also capable in direct action, and other spec ops mission sets and those would be their secondary roles. Their primary roles are probably the reason why they are attached to other spec ops units.

Vic Hyder ordered the Mako team leader to drop that plan and just land directly on the mountain last minute of the infill.. The Delta Force AFO teams were not happy with NSW that day.

@@MexicanBagpiper96 You mean Brit Slabiminski, the team leader??.. Iv heard several accounts, but Vic Hyder gave Slab the order for the Mako team to make it to the top of TakaGar by sun up.. Slab did technically make the final call i suppose.

@@joehavin1 No, Tim Szimansky. He was the operations officer and second in command of DEVGRU at the time.

The behavior of his wife at the end of the video parading his MOH medal for the camera is very disturbing. She has no solemn remorse. No reverence for his sacrifice while she shows off, what appears to be to her, an expensive trinket for the gathered audience.

She lost her husband their daughters lost their father. The award was held up for 16yrs by inter military bickering.if she wanted to do handsprings while she was leaving that was her right it was paid for by her husbands blood.i bet Chapman was smiling when she held up the M.O.H.

Ken Ehlears I can agree with this in a sense, but it is never about a medal even if it’s the most prestigious of them all. It’s about honoring the sacrifice. I say her conduct her is un-be fitting of her deceased husband who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

@@MackTheGovnah with that we'll agree to disagree. I do see your point but i also think she handled the interviews afterwards with intelligence and class. I think she was a helluva wife to chapman and he was a lucky man to have her

She has every right to be happy and proud. You don't what it was like for her and her daughters to find out the SEALs left her husband and their wounded father behind to fight off enemy all by himself. His MOH is one of the most hard-won ones of all time because of how much the SEALs tried to discredit the dead Chapman to cover up their own mistakes.
