The ehdc is essentially a half double crochet with an extra chain. It's taller and leaner than a normal half double crochet, but not quite as tall and skinny as a double crochet.

You make the best most clear videos I have ever seen. I don't really like to watch crochet videos for numerous reasons but I ran across you make a few years ago with tips on joining a long chain. I like the texture. I want to make a blanket that has different stitches do you have patters?

Oh….. I can see this would be a bit “fatter” than just the regular dc??? Like it would fill in the spaces more?

Seems to me that it makes the HDC a bit taller. So you wouldn't have to stitch as many rows to get the height you need for an item. Much like using DC but less gaps/holes as the HDC fills them in. LOL Does that make sense? 🤔

Yep, you are both right, AND it still has that prominent third loop from the yarn over like an hdc does.
