@@LifeJourneyful I think she's still a little apprehensive about the relationship, despite that it's been a year and a half long. She probably cannot yet fully understand why a pretty and healthy young woman could be so loyal to a quad man without any ulterior motives. She still is very protective of her son and does not want his heart broken. She comes across as a little jaded too; I have this weird feeling she and her husband don't have an ideal marriage. Perhaps she wants something better for her son than she has herself. I'm guessing she'd be much, much frostier to ANY other woman in Charisma's place. However, because Momma knew Charisma prior to her son's relationship with her, Momma likely trusts her more and has seemingly warmed up to her---in her own way. Momma appears to be a savvy and very intelligent woman and rarely has she been duped. From what I see, Momma's more wiling to give Charisma's relationship with her son the green light more so than any other at this point. (Obviously I'm only speculating here!)

Vanessa Holley Agree with you. I was lucky to get a “good” one. Stood by with me in college, my ‘shenanigans’ w/ un conditional love. For decades now, I call her 1-2/ day ( we’re in different states). We giggle and catch up. Cole & Charisma’s relationship is golden. Thanks for reminding us of special moms out there. In a few days June 6 - it will be 1 whole year that I recieved the news that I DID NOT think I could survive, My love,my best friend crashed his Motorcycle on the wantaugh parkway in NY Billy Moore My invincible FDNY 9-11 survivor was gone.. ..Best advice is to Breathe just Breathe and some days that is the hardest thing

I wish there was a way I could give your mom a hundred high-fives!!! She didn't just share, she preached! I have been living inspite of a terminal stage 4 metastatic breast cancer DX. Doctors told me I had 2 years, I said my God says otherwise. It’s been 9 years with many highs and a a few lows but I realized along the journey that sometimes what happens to us is not even about us. It’s about the manner in which we approach the mountain before us - do we climb and create a path to bring others up with us or do we dig a valley and pull others down with us? Thank you for choosing to climb and sharing with the beautiful, amazing view from the top! Continue to be blessed ❤️

This is so painful to walk considering the fact that my husband also suffered spinal cord injury at C5 . He was in ICU for 2 months starting getting better. Than boom he was unable to breath and passed on. I'm happy for you that he is still alive how i wish my husband is still with us too.

Thank you, Mrs. Kelly for this interview! I’m a nurse case manager at an insurance company and I precertify input rehab admissions and stays. Hearing your perspective has shed some light on how my SCI members parents and caregivers experience these life changing circumstances , especially the initial thoughts and responses. I am a lot like your mom during tragedy and a lot of people mistake it for being uncaring but I am the one who is calm because I have to be and wants to work on moving forward because we have to. I think it comes from the disability I grew up with. I'm sure your mom's past experiences with her own neck injuries and perhaps other hardships in life have prepared her a lot for caring for you. I hope she comes back to read comments from time to time to see how useful this was and very appreciated. We can learn a lot from listening to others (just like she said) and I think this was 37 minutes of my life well spent listening to you three. I did learn. Love you guys!
